Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 I have never heard Darling do commentary. How did those National broadcasts sound, DC peeps?
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 What's your criteria for "assassin"?I might be able to SQL out the top ten.
Guest Beenso Guests Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 seaver suckedo'brien suckedhealy suckedi liked ted...but thank god matt loughlin is gone. i mean, whats better than having the camera on matt loughlins stupid face while he conducts some sort of useless interview while the game is still going on.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 Smart, but a little sleepwalky.Maybe like the early years of Keith. He'll get more polish, I guess. Not surprisingly, analyzed pitching mostly.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 ]And to Cactus86 - sorry - I stopped being a wingman at age 40! -)HAHA. I guess Cactus wants help picking up girls in bars.
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 I would have liked to have seen Cactus' question.Tony Gwynn vs. the MetsNot too shabby.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 Before we give away too much more, how about a query, based on a reasonable minimum PA, of highest BA & SLG against, and most HRs against. How about all stats? Like, most SB against? It's gonna take some creativity to get through this next month anywhoo.
Guest sharpie Guests Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 His '98 season vs. the Mets (long past Darling's departure) was unreal with at least 2 hits in each game.
Guest sharpie Guests Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 We did a similar thing a few months ago, in terms of most hrs vs. Mets, most stolen bases etc.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 We did?I have to stop smoking so much crack
Guest Bret Sabermetric Guests Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 Burrell's got to be on any list you come up with.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 Willie Stargell's got to be in the top ten

Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 Looks like Darling did some of his best pitching at The Astrodome.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 That's funny. That whole thread took place while I was whale-watching in Nova Scotia.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 Back to M(ets)TV news, from Bob Raissman's Tuesday column:"While execs at SportsNet New York have yet to give a launch date for the new TV home of the Mets, cable industry sources say SNY likely will debut on Thursday, March 16. As of now, SNY has carriage agreements with Time Warner and Comcast, who are partners with Fred Wilpon in SNY. The network is still in the process of trying to cut carriage deals with Cablevision and satellite providers such as DirecTV and Dish Network."
Guest cooby Guests Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 Oh sure, since we dumped our dish...
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 That was a fun game. We should pick it up again on these slow January and February days.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 I wonder what impact if any this will have on the 25 Mets games WB11 was going to air..New TV Network
Guest abogdan Guests Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 Anyone know if RCN cable will be carrying the channel?
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 I don't know for sure but pretty certain they will. I don't believe RCN is in position to be throwing weight around: They took YES without a hassle.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 metirish wrote:I wonder what impact if any this will have on the 25 Mets games WB11 was going to air..New TV NetworkAlmost certainly none; the Met games are just an arrangement between the new network and the local ch 11 affiliate. Since that station was already connected with WB having a new corporate father isn't going to change this arrangement.btw, they've officially targeted March 16 as the launch date which'll include the Met ST game that night. What remains to be seen is how many systems will be cleared by that point. Even some of those who do clear it won't likely do so until closer to opening day - and some of the carriers ...
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 Every system is different of course but it would be cool if they arranged to put the Mets on say, channel 41. I think that's a hom shopping channel where I live.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 Thanks Frayed Knot, that makes sence.
Guest sharpie Guests Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 Mets should just call the channel Channel 41 and force everyone to use that number.
patchyfogg Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 Last night, we had on Newsdays Neil Best who is now penning the Sports Watch column which focuses on sports media and sports business. Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 So you got into a discussion of fan message boards and don't once bring up the CPF?!?!!?
patchyfogg Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 Well, the first thing that he said was "So, you've got too much time on your hands." I wasn't going to affirm his negative.
Guest abogdan Guests Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 I contacted RCN, who said they had no information about this channel being added in Queens in the near future. They pointed me in the direction of their NY channel request form, where RCN customers can request they add a channel to their lineup. If there are any other RCN customers on the board, I'd suggest they fill out the form.
