metirish Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Was it swinging?, I thought it was a terrible called inside strike that Jake looked at, anyway Delgado is a horrible first baseman, looked like he didn't care on two plays tonight, I mean at least try and make a play .
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Thanks for the correction. I'm working off the radio and sometimes I don't visualize so good. Or hear so good, I guess. I could've sworn that Gary said the ball was "dribbled." Anyway, still a great win!
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 ]I thought it was a terrible called inside strike that Jake looked at...Actually, I'm sorry. Double-checking, it seems we're both wrong, and both right. He followed off a jammer and then took the next for strike two. His hit was at 2-2, not 2-1.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 ted Robinson brought up a good point on that play, why was Delgado playing so far of the bag on that play?
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 I love that we're all calling him Jake-Monster now. This is the first time I've ever come up with something that stuck.Sorry I missed the game - it's Rush Week here at GW.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 There was both a called strike and swinging strike there. The sequence was: - Ball 1- Ball 2 - Swinging strike on a high/inside pitch Jacobs had no business going after- called strike 2 on an outside pitch Laz Diaz has no business calling a strike- then the game winner which was neither smoked nor dribbled but kind of a semi-hard grounder in the right place. Delgado isn't exactly the most mobile guy in the world and that may have cost the Marlins both the Mets first and last runs tonight.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Now, nobody said smoked.]why was Delgado playing so far of the bag on that play?'Cuz he's a loser. I noticed that too. I think somebody told him to play the line, but spoke to him in Spanish, so he refused.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 LOL..that's cold...and yeah he is a loser
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 So does Cliff Floyd get consideration for a Gold Glove? Or is it impossible for a left fielder with a reputation as an indifferent fielder to get one? He probably deserves a little consideration, given that he leads all outfielders in assists and has only made two errors so far--the same total he had last year, but in 29 additional games. I think he had 16 FRAA, which strikes me as pretty darn good. I'd have to look at what other guys have done, but I imagine that's pretty close to the top of the league.Jones will get one, and Edmonds probably will too, so it's almost certainly not gonna happen, I suppose . . .
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Jones is several heads down on the fielding totem pole by now. Until they force voters to vote for candidates at the three different outfield positions, it's sort of an empty argument.

Guest KC Guests Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 * fixed the date, I don't know where I pulled the 14th out of.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 By the way, I don't mean what I said about Delgado. It was just fun to say.
