Guest cooby Guests Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 I sincerely hope that I am not the only one that has been watching these playoffs this year. Today's final was the best game ever, and I have been watching these games for a long, long time.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 I love watching the LL World Series. Unfortunately, I was unable to watch the final weekend this time around. From the highlights I saw on ESPN, I missed a thrilling final.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 We watched some of the games and wondered how an All-Star LL team from Louisiana could have no black kids on it.
Guest cooby Guests Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 Hard to pick a team to root for this year. Couple of lame coaches here and there as usual, but nobody you could really root against. I love this kid: Vonn Fe'ao, a fierce little guy with a fiery, cocky attitude of an older teenager, and a just outstanding athlete. This Series was packed with outstanding athletes, I can't rave enough about it
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 When I came home this evening, MK was telling me about Hawaii's victory.
Guest PiazzaFan411 Guests Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 Hawaii won! I was hoping some team from the US won.

But none of them made that league's All Star team. Later
Guest cooby Guests Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 Some more great shots:This darling little girl from JapanI've sat on this hill, and it ain't easyThis California coach had a Rollie Fingers look Some pretty girls over there...This cute kid was somebody's little brother, and was a lucky charm!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 ]I think the way these work is that different leagues in each state form all-star teams and battle with other in-state teams to see which one makes the national tourney. Those aren't state-wide teams, the restrictions are more local than that. The idea is that these teams are supposed to be representing an official LL area so that this does NOT become a cut-throat contest between elite picks from perhaps wildly unequal populations (that's what got the Phillipines team in trouble a bunch of years back). So this white-only team from Louisiana may just have been from a mostly white Looziana community even though the state has a sizable black population. The fact that baseball isn't nearly as popular among American blacks as it was in years gone by makes it increasingly likely that these state-side squads are going to be filled with suburban white kids.

Guest cooby Guests Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 I also meant to mention This boy's (Myron Enos) dad quit his job because they wouldn't give him time off to come to Williamsport. Now that's neat...
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 I wasn't implying much else, neither. It was strange and also sad.
Guest cooby Guests Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 Thanks! I've been looking for a Championship team photo, but no dice.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 I've checked but can't find any either Cooby, a few of these, your fave player.
Guest cooby Guests Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 I love that kid! He reminds me of my son...Here we go:And a nod to Curacao, an outstanding team that I really thought was going to win it all...
