Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 Taken from Ryne Sandberg's Yahoo Sports column:With baseball "reeling" from the steroid stuff, do you think that baseball needs heroes that can bring the game out of the scandal? The first name that comes to mind is Albert Pujols. He plays hard, he's humble, he's a role model and he's put up consistent numbers every year, even this year. That indicates to me that he's "clean." David ChoiQueens, N.Y. Definitely. There are a few players that have the ability to bring the game back to the national pastime. Off the top of my head are Pujols, Miguel Cabrera, Mark Teixeira and David Wright. These are the players that baseball should be relying on to put the game back into a positive light. I would also look to the veterans of the league that understand and respect the game: Derek Jeter, Greg Maddux, John Smoltz and Craig Biggio.
