Guest TheOldMole Guests Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 Willie, on why he's not giving a pep talk before the road trip:]You don't want to raise robots and tell them everything.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 That's a great quote. Can you imagine what would happen when the robots know everything? Professor Frink knows:]You've got to listen to me. Elementary chaos theory tells us that all robots will eventually turn against their masters and run amok in an orgy of blood and the kicking and the biting with the metal teeth and the hurting and shoving.
Guest DocTee Guests Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 "To me," says Phillies closer Billy Wagner, "guys who scuff the ball or put pine tar on the ball -- that's not cheating."
Guest Elster88 Guests Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 On David Wright's barehanded catch:]"If that's not the play of the year, I'll protest," Mientkiewicz said, already lobbying ESPN to give Wright an ESPY award. "He had better not get a girlfriend between now and the ESPY's, because I want to go with him."
Guest Willets Point Guests Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 Then we'll have to put Mientkiewicz's picture in the wifey watch.

I had to turn around and agree with him. I said, 'You're absolutely right, sir. I feel I owe you. I should pay you the admission you paid.'" --on heckler etiquette
Guest Elster88 Guests Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 From the same source:]"When you have your fourth and fifth guys out of the lineup, it's hard. Personally, I haven't seen so much blood. It was like a car accident. Two people running their hardest, then colliding in mid-air trying to catch the ball. It wasn't good."

Guest Frayed Knot Guests Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 I heard 2 seperate callers since Sunday attempt to make the argument that Williams intentionally didn't catch the ball because of some long ago feud he supposedly once had w/Pedro -- "he hates him, I know he hates him" -- and at least one other referred to the triple as "an error".In all cases the host(s) were wise enough to dismiss them with extreme prejudice.
