Guest seawolf17 Guests Posted June 6, 2005 Posted June 6, 2005 Count me among the proud fantasy baseball nerds here; my team is tied for third at 5-4 to this point. Best pitching staff in the league, but my offense is 12th out of 14 teams right now.Why the update? Because I just dealt Jamie Moyer for Tom Glavine, and this marks the first time I've had a Met on my team since Trachsel in 2001. Let's hope I don't jinx him.
Guest holychicken Guests Posted June 6, 2005 Posted June 6, 2005 I am in first by 12 games (we do head to head matchups with 20 categories per week, thus 20 games), largest lead held by anyone this year to date. There is one yankee fan in my league, the rest are sox fans and they all have this preconceived notion that any player for the mets is automatically bad. So, my team has 5 mets: pedro, floyd, wright, matsui and cameron.Needless to say that if the mets falter, so do I. All mets' games carry double weight for me and hurt twice as bad when they fail. . .
Guest seawolf17 Guests Posted June 6, 2005 Posted June 6, 2005 That's exactly why I avoid Mets. (I avoid Yankees and Braves for the flipside of that reason, although I made an exception for Tim Hudson this year, because he's been on my team since forever.)I have been trying to get Reyes and Wright, but they're both owned by Mets fans, and they're not going anywhere.
Guest Diamond Dad Guests Posted June 6, 2005 Posted June 6, 2005 I drafted Pedro this year, and Piazza. One great, one only average. Also have Mientciewicz, but he seldom cracks my starting lineup. Hopeful, though. After several good years, I'm not doing well this season. Have no Braves or skankies (never!) but have several key picks doing poorly early or injured (Garciaparra, Maglio Ordonez, Lowell, Oliver Perez, Brian Giles). My pitching is great, but my hitting sucks so far.

Guest martin Guests Posted June 6, 2005 Posted June 6, 2005 i am a huge fantasy dork. and most of the people in my league are not from the area so they leave most of the valuable mets for me. cliff floyd was making me look like a genius until he cooled off a bit a few weeks back. cameron was a nice pickup when he became healthy too. david wright has looked great for where he was available in most drafts (middle rounds i guess?)reyes is starting to steal the bases i hoped he would. usually my tendency to be a homer and take local players cripples me in fantasy sports, but this time the mets are mostly cooperating.i brilliantly moved barmes for jeff kent last week, right before barmes breaks his clavicle. thats sweet.
