Guest metirish Guests Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 Heilman pitching gets the first out, Neikro pinch hitting gets a hit.
Guest Frayed Knot Guests Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 ]If the Mets hang on to win this game, woould today qualify as a Triple Happiness? ...I think we need a rulingYES!We decided last year that a situation like this counts as TH.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 I don't think we can call it Triple Happiness after the suckitude in game 1.I think we should settle for the fact that it's been an overall good day.
Guest Elster88 Guests Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 Ooooh, good point. Can someone give a ruling on this?
Guest Diamond Dad Guests Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 If they win the last game of the day, then it's triple happiness with an asterisk. If I get to fly the flag tomorrow, then the Mets won.
Guest Swan Swan H Guests Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 Can we start calling him 'Everyday' Aaron Heilman?
Guest Diamond Dad Guests Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 Ring is warming up in the pen. This is perfect time to get him some work.Fred Flintsone is on call in case he messes up.
Guest Frayed Knot Guests Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 Reyes hasn't popped the ball this well from the left side in a while.
Guest Elster88 Guests Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 That was a bomb by Floyd, straightaway center. 12-1 is always fun.
Guest Frayed Knot Guests Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 Nice shot by Cliffy - although I could do w/o the stadium pa system blasting "Macho Man" during the trot.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 Good thread.Good game.]Myself, I didn't realize that 16 and 2/3 home runs a year makes a power hitter. Your point is understood, as well as your greater point that Joe Morgan says things before thinking. But, in his defense, the Japan league has shorter seasons and 16 2/3 is more like 19 1/2.Not that I expect Morgan knew that.]Well, I can't remember seeing Mikey do that at first base. What was that?Manny Aybar pitched in game one. "Fubar" is kind of cheap shot. The guy hasn't lost any games and, while a 4.44 ERA won't knock my sox off, for the last guy out of the bullpen, I'll take it.Didn't somebody call for a 13-2 game? We came close.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 And it's over. 12-1 is your final!Edgy - I disagree with you. Norrin dubbed Manny Fubar on Opening Day, and it's stuck.
Guest Elster88 Guests Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 ]But, in his defense, the Japan league has shorter seasons and 16 2/3 is more like 19 1/2. I didn't realize this either. Also, I imagine that Matsui had one or two years when he first started where he got less at bats, bringing his yearly average down.I still don't like Morgan though.
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 Loopy goes 1-2-3 and the Mets split the double header and win the series!Their third series in a row--good stuff. A well-deserved day off, then on to a Clemens-less Houston! LGM!
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 seawolf almost called it in the second inning, when he said a 13-2 laugher was in order.I don't know about anyone else, but I'm pretty damn happy. Maybe even three times over.
Guest Swan Swan H Guests Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 Anderson just plain dropped a throw at first. He was suitably embarassed, but considering the score was 10-1, it was merely worth a chuckle.
Guest Elster88 Guests Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 Isn't it nice when two different centerfielders are pulling balls back over the fence in the same week?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 Getting a lousy tag on opening day makes it cheaper.
Guest Frayed Knot Guests Posted June 6, 2005 Posted June 6, 2005 ]Jon Miller pointed out that Willie is the only rookie manager in the big leagues this season. He then went on to say that the last time the Mets had a rookie manager was Joe Torre in 1977! Completely overlooked Davey Johnson and Bud Harrelson. Although that wasn't as bad as when Joe Morgan identified Jeff Wilpon as "the assistant GM".
Guest seawolf17 Guests Posted June 6, 2005 Posted June 6, 2005 I did almost call it! Freaky.Nice work in Game 2 all around.
