Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 4 Posted August 4 Indifferently swiping through social media, I was fed a trailer for a film called American Summer. I don't know how I made it as far as I did. It had a baseball theme, and those are almost invariably bad. It had Steve Gutenberg, and he has a lower batting average than baseball movies. It had Christie Brinkley, the weird digital pristineness and perfect hair and family themes of a "faith" movie without being an explicit faith movie so far as I could see. These are all indications of general badness, and the story as unfolding in the trailer was even worse than the sum of the parts listed above. I didn't know what besides inertia was making me keep watching and suddenly ... holy shit! That's Lee Mazzilli in this turkey! The Mets Hall of Fame and a Steve Gutenberg film all in one year. Lee Mazzilli can't be stopped!
