Phils will be hosting the Pirates as the week starts (Cooby will keep us up to date).

Also Nats @ Boston; Miami @ Colorado; Braves will host StL (starting Tuesday).

 

Couple of real cold streaks of note: involving guys off to early season MVP discussion.

- Atlanta catcher Drake Baldwin since returning from his injury on June 16 is 2-for-43 (and 0 for his last 33) with 1 walk and 20 Ks. His season OPS fell from 934 to 800 over an 11 game span

- Yanqui 1B Ben Rice, who put up an 1157 OPS in April and a 948 in May, plummeted to 648 in June. He's still hitting HRs (22 on the year) but his OBA has fallen from 443 to 346 to 286

Poor Tigers and Yankees in the 10th inning.  I don’t know what the temp is there but it’s about 95 here.

Neither team scored in the 10th, then the Tigers put up a four-spot in top 11 so 6-2 is your final.

That's a sweep for the Tigers right after a four-game sweep by the BoSox. So seven straight losses for the Yanx in which they've scored a total of 15 (non-ghost runner) runs. They had a two game lead in the AL East when the streak started and are 3.5 out now and could be 4 out later tonight.

Gary referencing, but not detailing, the ejections of Willson Contreras of Nats pitcher Cade Cavalli on Tuesday based on Cavalli "saying something he shouldn't have said". That something was "Sit down, boy" following a K of Contreras.

So not only do we have zero chance of losing today but Philly and Miami get trounced earlier (6-1 and 14-4) and Atlanta is currently down 10-5 to StL in the 7th.  So, we've got that going for us.

How badly are things going for the Yanx lately?

Well 1-9 over the last ten games to start with ... but that's not even the worst of it. The real barometer is them losing two of three to the TWINS!!!, a team they usually beat while using only six players in the field and by naming the assistant equipment manager as that day's starter. Not only that but the scores of the two losses (Sat & Sun) were a combined  17 - 5 [11-4 and 6-1]. And now the Rays and Nats, both on the road, are on tap for them this coming week.

Oh I missed this assignment!

I had lots of fun watching all the games too, in both parks, especially the fans trying to stay cool and Cavelli only lasting 3 innings today !
