Among the survivors are a handful of baseball figures including former Mets Ocatavio Dotel and Henry Blanco. Dotel reportedly had to be dug out, and was badly injured.



Nelson Cruz very sadly lost his sister. She had been the sitting governor of Montecristi Province.
