Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2023 Posted August 28, 2023 Dodger RHP Tony Gonsolin to undergo TJSAt the rate their pitching is going under knife, They might look to take Syndergaard back.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2023 Author Posted August 28, 2023 Trea Turner is waking up for Philly and has 2 HRs tonight as the Phightins lead LAA 5-3The Phils, I'm shocked to learn, have out-HR'd the Braves for the month of August. I didn't think anyone was out-HR'ing the Braves even for a short span.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2023 Posted August 29, 2023 Alex Cobb takes a no-hitter to 2 out in the 9th in San Fran. Spencer Steer doubles just above the glove of Luis Matos in RF. Cobb completes one-hitter of Reds, winning, 6-1. An earlier initial hit (high throw from 3B to 1B; not routine) had been changed to an error.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 30, 2023 Author Posted August 30, 2023 So the Phillies know how to hit LAA pitching even if we don't. 12 runs last night and now 8 more today, the final two of those on Bryce Harper's 300th career HR to give them the lead w/2 outs bottom 8th.Buuuuuut, Kimbrel can't close out the 9th as the Angels tie it up then, following a K of Ohtani, get a 2R Brandon Drury HR... and the Angels hold on to avoid the sweep
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 30, 2023 Author Posted August 30, 2023 And now the Padres, who need every game they can get, are up 4-3 in the 9th in StL w/2 outs and the bases empty until Josh Hader allows a 2B then a Tommy Edman walkoff 2R HR
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2023 Posted August 31, 2023 Atlanta hit their 250th home run of the season last night - an all-time franchise record with about 30 games to go. And it is possible they will have a record 7 players with at least 25 by the end of the year.Insane.Later
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 31, 2023 Posted August 31, 2023 Interesting to see teams getting gutshot with Chapman and Kimbrel and some of the best closers of the last 20 years on the mound. Also interesting to see Chapman with his velocity back but his control all over the place like he's 21 years old again.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2023 Author Posted September 1, 2023 Scherzer and Verlander both going tonight for their various Texas-based teams.Rangers w/Max scoreless in the 2nd vs TwinsVerlander gives up 3 to the Yanx in the top of the 1st on two HRs
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2023 Author Posted September 1, 2023 Reds get two in the 9th to walk-off the Cubs 3-2 in a big NLC series.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 3, 2023 Posted September 3, 2023 Big Covid outbreak for the Reds.Or I should write, big Covid outbreak for America, currently effecting the Reds, among millions of others.Mask up, fellow posters.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2023 Author Posted September 3, 2023 Dodgers win the final, but only the final, game of the four game set with the Braves. All games were close though.Tempting to call this an NLCS preview but of course the multiple rounds of playoffs makes it less likely just as it did last year as it turned out to be SDP & PHI instead.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 3, 2023 Posted September 3, 2023 We have a four-way tie for the third and final National League Wild Card spot.Three of the teams (MIA, SFG, and CIN) have a tough series coming up (against LAD, CHC, and SEA, respectively), but the Diamondbacks will be playing the Rockies at the same time, giving them an opportunity to pull away from the pack a little.Mets head into Washington with the Nats on a five-game skid.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2023 Author Posted September 4, 2023 Yanx back to within a game of .500 after a sweep of Houston, one of the few .500+ teams on their September schedule.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 We had some fan interference at that Yankees-Astros tilt. But it's all good. The fan was just new to Houston and a little overzealous in his support for the Asteroids.
