A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2022 Posted July 14, 2022 Was shocked (SHOCKED, I TELL YOU) when I did a CPF search for "Mookie Wilson dinosaur" and got zero matches.I know everyone has seen this and that everyone probably knows it's fake. It's still awesome.https://external-preview.redd.it/MO-EcQno5f46NVPojV6V-rK6e3m-TfqT-jNvKoXgpJ0.jpg?auto=webp&s=eb788bee6aa1feeb981fb0830edfd2a7a63098ec>But I didn't know the backstory til I googled it today. For those not in-the-know like me, it was a piece from October 86 that appeared in the Village Voice, and the author asked the question "what is your fav dinosaur" and then apparently wrote answers for each of the players and staff, in what I guess the author (Charlie Rubin) imagined was that person's voice. And some of these are fucking hilarious. I mean, how perfect did he capture Dykstra? And if this has been discussed here already (no way it hasn't been), then just enjoy it again!

roger_that Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2022 Posted July 14, 2022 I know Charlie Rubin pretty well personally. I can forward questions to him if anyone cares. He'll be pleased that someone remembers that piece--it's one of the things he's written he's proudest of. (He also wrote the best Seinfeld episode ever--"The Marine Biologist.")
