Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2021 Posted May 11, 2021 Braves led the entire game until a three run 8th gives the Jays a 5-3 lead they'd hold onto.Robbie Ray, ex-DBack, started for the Jays and he seems to have somehow obtained ownership of Lee Mazzilli's pants from the late-'70s. I've seen yoga pants on fat women that aren't that tight.Phils on top of the Nats in the 9th in DC. Harper homered in his old digs.Marlins are out in Arizona after sweeping the DBacks at home just before we did the same.Yanx hold off the Rays 3-1
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2021 Author Posted May 13, 2021 So while the Mets were sitting on their collective asses this afternoon they still managed to cushion their first place lead by another half-game on both the Braves (who completed getting swept by the Jays) and also the Phillies (losers to the Nats).Over this winning streak which started with Game 2 win in the StL DH on May 5, we've gone from:1.0 game behind Philly to 1-1/2 up1/2 game up on the Nats to 5 games up1/2 game up on the Braves to 4 games up1.0 game up on the Marlins to 4-1/2 up (they play later tonight in Arizona)Milwaukee starter Corbin Burnes came off the IL to K 9 in 5 innings today giving him 58 on the season. But what's most remarkable about that is that only after notching K #58 did he issue his first BB of the seasonAnd you thought JdG's K/BB ratio was good!

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2021 Author Posted May 14, 2021 Jerrid Kelenic took an oh-fer four in his ML debut for Seattle.Clearly we hoodwinked the M's on that deal.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 14, 2021 Posted May 14, 2021 Right now, it's Justin Dunn rolling in the most profit for the Mariners on that trade. The Mariners also have another outfielder, Jake Scheiner, who they got from the Phillies for Jabe Ruce, that's tearing it up at AA.Scorekeepig on that trade may go on for a long, long time.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2021 Author Posted May 16, 2021 Braves looking for the sweep in Milwaukee got down 0-8 heading to the 7th.They get one in, one out, bases loaded The Brews muff the flip to 2nd off a slow grounder to SS and fail to get even one out: 8-2, 1 out, bags loadedNext batter: slow grounder to SS and again they muff the flip: 8-3, 1 out, bags loadedAnd then Freddie hits the next pitch for a GS8-7 Milwaukee, bottom 7
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2021 Author Posted May 16, 2021 Brews scored 2 in bottom 7th. 10-7Braves up, none out, 1st & 3rd, GiDP ball to SS ... AND THEY MUFF THE FLIP TO 2nd!!!!Run scores, still no one out, 2 on, 10-8
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2021 Author Posted May 16, 2021 The oft-unhittable Josh Hader in to close out the 10-8 ... and he's retired two of the five hitters he's faced.10-9, 1st & 2nd, 2 outs ... Strike Three and the Brewers win, THAAAA Brewers win!If nothing else, it's good to see Atlanta not only lose but also grind thru their pen just as we arrive in town.
