bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2020 Posted August 8, 2020 It's a Sunday matinee as Jacob DeGrom (RHP, https://www.mlb.com/player/jacob-degrom-594798https://www.mlb.com/player/jacob-degrom-594798) faces Pedro Lopez (RHP, https://www.mlb.com/player/pablo-lopez-641154https://www.mlb.com/player/pablo-lopez-641154) and TBD gets the day off. It's over a year ago so it really doesn't matter but I noticed that on May 10, Lopez gave up 10 ER to the Mets in 3 IP https://www.mlb.com/gameday/marlins-vs-mets/2019/05/10/566005#game_state=final,lock_state=final,game_tab=box,game=566005https://www.mlb.com/gameday/marlins-vs-mets/2019/05/10/566005#game_state=final,lock_state=final,game_tab=box,game=566005 and then just 8 days later only gave up 0 ER in 7 IPhttps://www.mlb.com/gameday/mets-vs-marlins/2019/05/18/567383#game_state=final,lock_state=final,game_tab=box,game=567383https://www.mlb.com/gameday/mets-vs-marlins/2019/05/18/567383#game_state=final,lock_state=final,game_tab=box,game=567383The First Place Miami Marlins:1. bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2020 Author Posted August 9, 2020 Michael Wacha to the DL, Ali Sanchez ("Prince Ali! Fabulous he!") returns from Brooklyn.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 Villar had no chance, striking out to lead off the game.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 He's getting a lot of borderline calls early, which may mean a tough afternoon for the Marlins. Here's to pitch-framing!

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 Wide strike zone with the Mets batting also.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 He's not getting any charity now, walking the first two batters in the second, on eight pitches.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 We've got blister-in-the-sun issues.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 Man he got out of that.Over thirty pitches that inning. I'm thinking Mickey Callaway would pull him on principle after that inning. With the blister issue, Luis Rojas might pull him also.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 Alonso chasing a truckload of garbage. But Conforto picked him up (though it took an outfield error). I'll take it.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 Umpie is having a strange day behind the plate. Giving them strikes off the corner and missing pitches over the dish.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 That Alonso strike three swing at garbage-change was butt ugly.I feel like I know half of the cardboard faces, weird. I flipped over to TBS a fewminutes ago and saw some others. Seeing Jeff Wilpon sitting with SteveJRogersin Philly kinda took me aback.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 Is that Bartolo to the left of the Clover sign or just a jowly Mets fan?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 Mets benefitting generously from this Harrison guy not being able to catch up with the heat.

The replay was from above or overhead.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 Jake went into that last inning with a 1.71 ERA and came out with a 2.45 ERA.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 RBI for Nimmo but McNeil goes down swinging at shite too. Also, we're going to need a Rosario Base-on-Balls Watch.Four innings from the bullpen will be a tough order if the Mets don't expand this lead.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 I'm just saying that, in this game and this series in particular, a missed call could be the result of especially good/bad framing but more likely is the result of questionable B/S umping. There's certainly been enough evidence of the latter over the last 2-1/2 days.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2020 Author Posted August 9, 2020 How about a frigging flyball with a runner on 3B and less than 2 outs? Dom failed on Friday and just now but he's not the only one.Meanwhile, I thought that this was going to be Rosario's breakout season.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 Well, one can't always know for sure why the home plate ump makes an incorrect ball/strike call.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 It might have been a good call for Alonso to take the long hop, but if he's going to back up, he ought to get in front of it. We're scoring it an E in Baltimore.
