Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2020 Posted August 7, 2020 In what is certainly a sign of the times and particularly of this season, the Rays used six pitchers to 2-hit the Yanx tonight and win 1-0Both team got just 2 hits and Tampa scored the game's lone run in the top of the 9th on a Walk, Walk, Passed Ball, Sac FlyOn the other side of the coin, the Orioles knocked out 19 hits against Anibal Sanchez and the Nats for an 11-Zip winFormer Met Tommy Milone and several relievers held the champs to 4 hits.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2020 Author Posted August 8, 2020 One third of the Yanqui games so far this season (5 of 15) have been shorter than 9 innings. They've played two Little League Double-Headers (PHI & TBR) plus had a rain-shortened six inning affair on opening day vs WAS.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2020 Posted August 8, 2020 Sean Gilmartin is back in the majors, this time with Tampa. You know his wife. I hope that he gets booed every time they say his name.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2020 Author Posted August 9, 2020 The Nats, now 4-7 on the season, lost their third straight overall and second straight to the Orioles, this one in painful fashion. They were in the midst of a combined two-hitter when they turned it over to the supposed strength of their bullpen -- Doolittle and Hudson -- to start the 8thDoolittle began the inning by serving up two HRs in his first four pitches before striking out Chris Davis (except that everyone strikes out Chris Davis). In came Hudson who quickly went: BB, 1B, 3R-HR before recording an out and the 3-0 Nats lead was now a 5-3 Baltimore lead, which was also the game's final score. btw, if any of you have the mighty trio of Pat Valaika, Pedro Severino, and Anthony Santander on your fantasy team, step up and collect your HR points. Yeah, I never heard of them either but they were your Baltimore sluggers from last night.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 Also, Nationals fans harrassed Sean Dootlittle so much last night on Twitter that he deactivated his account. This is Sean Doolittle, one of the best people in the game who helped them winning the Series. Nationals fans suck even more than I thought.
