Edgy MD Site Manager Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 Whether a decade starts with year ending in 0 or 1 will always be debatable, but they are generally defined by their 10s place. So in that spirit, it's the last day of the decade, which — why not? — invites a look over the shoulder.I was unsure how to format the teams. I ranked evahbody by fWAR, and I was going to go with a typical 25-man roster of 12-ish pitchers and 13-ish hitters, but that left us without a backup catcher, and I was surprised how quickly the relievers were falling off even at seven (Takahashi?). So I made it a 12-man staff, but included full first- and second-team selections on offense. Yeah, it's arbitrary, but it's not like there's money involved.Intrestingly, over the last decade, the team seems most wanting in center and at catcher (despite d'Arnaud's 100% stealing rate), which is kind of where they are most wanting right now.Your Crane Pool Forum All-2010s Mets Team!First Team[th]Pos[/th][th]Name[/th][th]Seas.[/th][th]G[/th][th]AB[/th][th]PA[/th][th]R[/th][th]H[/th][th]2B[/th][th]3B[/th][th]HR[/th][th]RBI[/th][th]SB[/th][th]CS[/th][th]SB%[/th][th]AVG[/th][th]OBP[/th][th]SLG[/th][th]OPS[/th][th]BB[/th][th]SO[/th][th]HBP[/th][th]SF[/th][th]SH[/th][th]GDP[/th][th]WPA[/th][th]fWAR[/th]cTravis d'Arnaud7407136014941523296554716410100.0%.242.303.401.704112253118345-1.278.51bLucas Duda87602494289532561414631253785741.7%.246.343.457.80133268348201415.938.02bDaniel Murphy7699271529123387911811348322531775.7%.291.331.421.75216234310223695.6812.03bDavid Wright87382813320639779416813102409773469.4%.282.362.460.822348653172706911.5120.7ssJosé Reyes55742084228033457411040451961072779.9%.275.329.431.76116927141112242.0410.9lfYoenis Cespédes4308114112701773226277420110376.9%.282.346.543.89010427314110276.038.8cfJuan Lagares771619602119227498971925179441772.1%.254.297.361.65910643721151738-4.847.5rfMichael Conforto557819432268308491109410931014863.6%.253.353.481.83427854931160347.0614.0Second Team[th]Pos[/th][th]Name[/th][th]Seas.[/th][th]G[/th][th]AB[/th][th]PA[/th][th]R[/th][th]H[/th][th]2B[/th][th]3B[/th][th]HR[/th][th]RBI[/th][th]SB[/th][th]CS[/th][th]SB%[/th][th]AVG[/th][th]OBP[/th][th]SLG[/th][th]OPS[/th][th]BB[/th][th]SO[/th][th]HBP[/th][th]SF[/th][th]SH[/th][th]GDP[/th][th]WPA[/th][th]fWAR[/th]cJosh Thole4291863967632223917781233.3%.257.330.329.6598912264528-1.482.21bIke Davis545415121741200365822682247463.6%.241.334.433.7672134154120373.135.32bJeff McNeil2196735815118236497269412763.2%.321.383.513.8964999261473.027.33bWilmer Flores658118662011214488962682533350.0%.262.303.424.7271052611522350-1.85.1ssAsdrubal Cabrera337413751515179384852551798372.7%.279.339.464.8031172671391452.177.2lfBrandon Nimmo4310882108414922451103110314670.0%.254.387.440.8271652913052124.27.1cfAngel Pagan427410571165148293551118125691681.2%.277.332.401.733881592810130.135.8rfCurtis Granderson4573202623643174841061295247271269.2%.239.341.444.78429751224170188.2112.0Starters[th]Name[/th][th]Years[/th][th]W[/th][th]L[/th][th]SV[/th][th]G[/th][th]GS[/th][th]IP[/th][th]K/9[/th][th]BB/9[/th][th]HR/9[/th][th]BABIP[/th][th]LOB%[/th][th]GB%[/th][th]ERA[/th][th]FIP[/th][th]xFIP[/th][th]WHIP[/th][th]WPA[/th][th]fWAR[/th]Jacob deGrom666490171171 1,101.2 10.252.170.78.29179.3%45.2%2.622.783.041.0517.7331.5Noah Syndergaard547300118118 715.0 9.732.090.79.31473.4%49.1%3.312.933.171.164.2118.7Matt Harvey634370104104 629.1 8.682.400.87.29573.8%44.3%3.583.343.541.183.0013.4Zack Wheeler544380126126 749.1 8.723.240.90.30073.6%46.5%3.773.713.911.290.3212.6Jon Niese759600171171 1,029.2 7.012.670.92.30771.9%50.1%3.893.863.721.35-2.2512.4Relievers[th]Name[/th][th]Years[/th][th]W[/th][th]L[/th][th]SV[/th][th]G[/th][th]GS[/th][th]IP[/th][th]K/9[/th][th]BB/9[/th][th]HR/9[/th][th]BABIP[/th][th]LOB%[/th][th]GB%[/th][th]ERA[/th][th]FIP[/th][th]xFIP[/th][th]WHIP[/th][th]WPA[/th][th]fWAR[/th]Jeurys Familia817191233780 377.1 9.283.940.50.29875.1%56.8%3.173.213.551.293.725.5Bobby Parnell61620362550 238.0 8.173.210.38.32071.1%55.2%3.182.923.341.35-3.913.8Seth Lugo49791200 178.1 10.042.270.71.25577.2%45.8%2.522.883.480.953.813.7Addison Reed265211450 142.0 9.891.520.70.29285.5%40.1%2.092.473.261.014.203.6Francisco Rodriguez36448950 100.0 10.173.330.54.31683.1%46.4%2.612.813.241.262.732.2Jerry Blevins414442180 136.2 10.734.020.79.29479.0%37.0%3.293.474.171.271.531.8Hisanori Takahashi1628410 57.1 9.423.450.31.27280.4%40.8%2.042.593.391.132.271.3
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 It would appear by fwar that deGrom is the Mets of the decade, David Wright 2nd and Syndergaard 3rd.Syndegaard, really?? wow
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted December 31, 2019 Author Posted December 31, 2019 Cumulative totals like fWAR refWARd both health and longevity. Also, depending on how aggressively you weight them, including post-season performances might push Murphing USA into third.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted December 31, 2019 Author Posted December 31, 2019 Worth noting that Hisanori Tak's numbers reflect his work only as a reliever in 2010. He was meaningfully less effective (5.01 ERA in 64 2/3 innings) as a starter. That doesn't explain quite why he got a release at the end of his only Metly season, but the raise he was due as an NPB veteran was probably part of the equation. This was back in the austerity times.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted January 1, 2020 Author Posted January 1, 2020 They got off two big schneids in the 2010s — getting their first-ever batting-average title and first no-hitter.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted January 1, 2020 Author Posted January 1, 2020 And two RoYs.Fun fact: Since 2012, the Mets have placed a pitcher in the Cy Young voting in seven of eight years. And that one season without a showing was 2014 — deGrom's RoY campaign.
