Back Pockets

It seems I'm seeing increasingly more managers who, when they come out to speak with an ump, keeping their hands in their back pockets. I think I first noted this with Willie Randolph, though I'm sure it predates him with some old longtime manager. Bobby Cox or Dallas Green or somebody.

Is this the result of a study that suggested your less likely to be interpreted as antagonistic and get yourself tossed if you keep your hands hid away. Unless you're wearing your warmup jacket, you don't have hip pockets, so you've got to keep your hands in the back feeling your buttocks while trying to flip the ump.

Maybe sometimes they just like it.

Tommy was just checking to see how many more innings he could get out of his Depends.
