Guest 41Forever Guests Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 Mets get a run in, but Cano looked awful -- twice!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 He beat out a double-play ball. I mean, it might have been a double-play if Ramos was running, but still! He outran Ramos!!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 And while I'm typing that, Canó fails to turn a double-play. And that leads to a two-run homer by Bruce.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2019 Author Posted July 6, 2019 Jay Bruce ladies and gentlemen, Jay Bruce.
Guest 41Forever Guests Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 And got caught in a run-down and couldn't turn a DP in the next inning. And why didn't Bruce hit like that with us??Syndergaard giving up two long homers and we're already down 3-1
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 The funny thing is that the neither Dunn nor Kelenic are particularly close to debuting, and I can't stop myself from comparing the Canó trade to a bunch of deals from the seventies as the worst in team history.I mean, Ryan/Estrada/Rose/Stanton-for-Fregosi is going to be the standard-bearer for a while, but give this trade time and it might be the first one in a long time to make a run.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2019 Author Posted July 6, 2019 Noah trade-value taking a chink heading into the home stretch...

He was too good last year to be this bad. Syndergaard meanwhile can't even lay down a bunt...
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 Lots of stuff to blame Cano for this year, but I'm not blaming the non-DP or the rundown on him.The one good thing he might still do well defensively is turn and throw, but it was a slow bouncer and Realmuto is likely the only catcher in MLB that beats that out.And the rundown was simply a contract play. I blame Conforto more for failing to advance to 3rd during it.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 Hey, bases loaded for the Mets #3 hitter!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 I like that Nido busted towards 3rd rather than assuming he'd be held, even though holding him was clearly the right move.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 Funny how Canó got those calls when he was a .300 hitter.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 So that's two slide/tag plays in two games messed up by the same ump.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 So at least we didn't leave any runners on that inning. We got them pre-thrown-out on the bases instead.8 hits plus a HBP plus a Philly error in just 3 innings somehow equals only 3 runsPut another way, Arrieta has retired less than half the batters he's faced. A pitcher who does that should be either losing big or already be out of the game.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 Arrieta is missing wider each batter, it seems.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 That ump between Frazier and Realmuto looked four feet tall.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 Not sure why Frazier is mad.No reason for warnings to be issued. If they're not going to issue a warning immediately then they are, in effect, admitting that they're only doing it because Frazier reacted.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 No, don't pinch-run Hech. Put in Lagares so's'n you can get Conforto into a corner and McNeil into the infield.
