Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2019 Posted May 27, 2019 Dustin Pedroia has been placed on the 60-Day IL with no timetable as to when or even IF he'll return. The former MVP (2008) played in just six games this season after just three last year. He also missed large chunks of 2015 & 2010The issue here is a knee problem which doesn't seem to be getting better. He's yet to mention the 'R' word but that's starting to look more and more likely for the soon-to-be 36 y/oNats fell short on their attempt for a four-game sweep this afternoon as the Marlins eked out a 3-2 win. This also means that the Nats again lost another Scherzer start.Though not great by his standards, Scherzer is having a decent enough season [3.41 ERA, 1.18 WHIP prior to today] but the team is now 2-10 in games where he took the mound.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2019 Author Posted May 28, 2019 Yanx lost their game vs SDP today on a call reversal for the final out when Brett Gardener was at first ruled Safe on a GiDP attempt but replay showed he was out.Until that point I was so sure the Sandy Eggo was going to blow the game (their first four hitters of the game scored and they led 5-1 but just held on to win 5-4) especially when in the 7th inning the Yanx, with runners on 1st & 2nd, hit four consecutive ground balls which the Pads turned into exactly ONE out and three runs.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2019 Author Posted May 29, 2019 I'd like to give out a big 'Fuck You' to Chris Paddack. He's the Padres reliever who shut us down on about 2 hits after whining that he, not Alonso, should have been NL 'Rookie of the Month' back in April - as if that's some kind of monumental award.Well, this afternoon he served up HRs in the Bronx on the 3rd & 5th pitches he threw and wound up getting tagged with a couple more runs and the 'L'Guess what, ace? You ain't winning Rookie of the Month for May either.
