ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 We get a look to see if Gio was worth pursuing.Mickey, I implore you, bat Alonso third and Cano second, pleez!A Matz game is comingLGM
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 Cano hit on hand again, left game presumably to get x-ray.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 And it's called a strike, again, so the Mets don't get the base (however they did via the walk). Mickey did nothing this time.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 WTF is going on with Ramos? d'Arnaud can hit and throw that badly.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 Mickey should have made a fuss. That call is a terrible distortion of the spirit of the rule.Meanwhile, if Gio Gonzalez can't get a high (higher than the strikezone) fastball past Todd Frazier, I'm either excited about Frazier or thrilled the Mets didn't sign Gio.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 That should have been an E6 on Rosario.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 I'm casting my vote now for Jeff McNeil as MVP.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 How many more of those spinning squibs is Cain going to hit this weekend? Fortunately we finally got a break on this one. He's had like 6 hits this series and I don't think he's hit a ball hard yet.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 I think they made the right call on that 'turn or no-turn' call at 1st base, but it reminds me that that's one of the most mis-called and widely-interpreted calls in softball games. Some umps would go as far as inferring 'intent' if a runner merely turned his body counter-clockwise before going back to the bag, even if he was directly on the foul line while doing so.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 It certainly was the right call. Why Mickey would dispute that and not the HBP-non-swing-called-a-swing is a head-scratcher.Justine Ward working the sideline this afternoon.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 Raise your hand if you envisioned Matz bailing out the Mets with a dominant start in game three of a series after deGrom and Syndergaard both spit the bit in the first two games.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 McNeil going after pop-ups like he's got a put-out clause in his contract.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 Ramos thrown out at first from centerfield.Wasn't particularly close either.

The umpire at 1B said that the runner didn't intend to make the turn and was only doing so to avoid the tag. However, Cano didn't intend to swing, both today and last Sunday, when he was getting hit in the hand with the pitch.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2019 Author Posted April 28, 2019 Matz is ok. The other sp's are more suspect for now Alonso will now be batting thirdCano had been underwhelming of late. Hope the hand ain't broken. If so Todd Frazier everyday
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 Is the swing/no-swing thing even reviewable?I hated to see Dom ph'd-for, especially seeing as how they were already a man down, but it was the right move and JD cashed it in.He's looking to be this season's Scott Hairston, the guy put on this planet to punish LHPs
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 I like Mickey playing all his cards in a row there. And I love it paying off.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 (edited) I bet robo-ump would have called that 3-0 pitch to Alonso a ball. One thing that analysis has shown is that 3-0 pitches get called strikes more often than they should while borderline 0-2 pitches are more frequently tallied as balls. Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 Will a triple from Conforto be enough to score Ramos from 2nd?
