Mets led 3-0 after four shutout innings from Jason Vargas, lowering his spring ERA to a deGromian 1.08, but Luis Avilan just gave two of those runs back in the bottom of the sixth.

Brandon Nimmo has continued the turnaround of his spring and went 3-4 with a double before yielding to Braxton Lee.

And a seventh-inning homer by secondbaseman Nick Tanielu off of Rhame ties it for Houston.

I don't know who Tanielu is, but that's his fourth homer this spring.

A messy and soiled eighth leaves the Mets down 6-3 going into the ninth, and Jacob Rhame behind the eight ball in the kwest to make the team.

Fun Fact: Rhame was called up by the Mets ten times last season.

The highlight of the game appears to be Josh Reddick attempting to beat out a bunt.

The play was going to be close and the throw took Alonso into the baseline causing Reddick to run straight into him.

Reddick was knocked backwards and down with his helmet going airborne in the other direction.

Alonso barely budged.

Reddick's listed at 6' 2" 195 which is pretty big for man-on-the-street size. But even with that he's giving away a half-a-hundred pounds to the 1st baseman.

Holy Ivan Drago, Batman.

Alonso crushes opponents like he crushes baseballs.

So, Luis Avilán and Jacob Rhame gave up the runs.

As Stormy Daniels said about Donald Trump, "no big thing".

Avilan is supposed to make the team but that was his first bad outing of the spring. Rhame was awful but he wasn't helped when Rymer (Reason) Liriano misplayed a flyball into a double. I was sitting 15 rows behind first and could hear the collision between Alonso and Reddick (my first thought was concern for Alonso's arm).
