Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 So Conforto, as the fourth batter of the game on Friday, stroked a 3R HR.In the [u:5s6b8a8f]17 innings[/u:5s6b8a8f] since then, the Mets have scored one run -- and that one was unearned via the poor throw on Reyes's Sac Fly w/bases loaded, one out, so even that one was kind of disappointing/lucky.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 Forget about driving a truck. You could land a plane in the hole between first and second.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 Met pitchers, if you want a lead, you've got to get the ribbies yourself.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 Great interview with Clint Hurdle after a great interview with Ray Searage at the start of the game.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 Instead he gets the opposite field hit. I'll take it.I'm glad to see Austin Jackson getting on base, but isn't he supposed to have some wheels? He's failed to break up a double-play already today, and now he fails to go first to third.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 I think 'Action' Jackson's wheels have a few too many miles on them.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 I would have left Wheeler in to bat [top 7, bases loaded, two outs, 1-0 lead] but Mickey decision to PH instead [Conforto IW, Rosario GO] hasn't burned them so far as Lugo has a quick 1-2-3 bottom 7
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 Oddly, the Mets load the bases, and the only one who didn't reach via an HbP is Nimmo.
Guest 41Forever Guests Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 Bucs gave us a gift and we pissed it away.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 So not only do we not get his w/RiSP [oh for last 19] but now we don't even get the ball out of the infield.Over three ABs in the last two innings, all with bases loaded: weak GO, foul PO, foul PO [Rosario, Jackson, Plawecki]
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 Plawecki saves the day. And Chelsea saves the save.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 Anthony Swarzak is a steely-eyed missle man!Who knew?
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 Swarzak could have used a month of rehab before returning to the team. Even if the Mets' bullpen weren't a dire mess, that probably would not have happened. As it stands, he's starting to look like the pitcher he was last year. (And again, he was a perfectly sensible pickup; you can blame Alderson plenty for the back of the pen but it was not his fault that Swarzak got hurt).
