Tough to vote against that 1970, but so be it.

What makes 1968 so cool is the hindsight -- we know what Gil went on to do and what he means to the team's history. He also had the prior history with the Mets and Dodgers. Had another new manager gotten that treatment -- Art Howe, Jeff Torborg or even Wes Westrum -- not as much to celebrate.

It's my favorite cover.

Before and After 1969, which in a way is the story of the Mets as a whole. Gil and 1968 prepared us for the unpredictable. 1970 reflects how we reacted when it became actual.

We went nuts. But Gil remained calm, at least on the outside, just as in that watercolor.

I'm glad we got to maraud the field, innocent as it was. But there's something prescient in Mullin being present at the creation.

A vote for Before. Not in the standings, but for the yearbook.

I went with the riot. it's I like the mix of b/w and color photos at a time when color was transitioning to the standard, but still too expensive to use all through the issue.
