The following polls are still open for voting:

And, in yet another lopsided victory, the 1977 Original Edition has defeated the much-reviled 2003 yearbook by a score of 16 to 1.

The Spanish-language 1992 cover, which probably isn't a yearbook at all and is therefore a likely ringer in this competition, has been eliminated by the 1987 Original Edition, by a resounding score of 18-1. That one vote that the Bonilla cover received saved it from the ignominy of being the first cover to suffer a shutout loss.

In a poll where the margin of victory was less overwhelming than usual, the 1985 cover has bumped the 1994 cover by a score of 11 to 7.

With a 14 to 3 victory, the 1964 cover advances to the second round, while 2016 will retire to the loser's lounge to enjoy the all-you-can-eat shrimp buffet.

Today's poll was the 22nd of the first round, which means we've been presented with 44 of the 64 covers that are participating in this competition. Tomorrow, the 16th poll closes, at which point we'll know half of our first-round winners. To mark this milestone, I'll be posting, in this thread, an updated graphic of the Yearbook Cover Derby bracket. Don't miss it!

These are the threads that are currently open for voting:

And, in the thread that closed today, the 1999 cover won a 16 to 3 victory over the 1980 "weird child" cover.

Now that we have officially determined one half of our first-round winners, it's time to post an updated bracket:

Looking through my yearbooks today, I noticed that most of the books I have from the 1960s are revised editions, and later learned that there were, in some years, multiple revised editions.

Does anyone know if there is a site with a definitive listing to which years had revised editions, and how many?

I didn't know about that change in the 2008 edition. Was that the last time there was a change in mid-season?

I have a definitive list-of-all things Mets through 1999-2000 if
you have specific questions. It's not my list, and as far as I know
it's not available online.

Further evidence (as if we needed it!) that 1969 was a dud of a season. Its year book cover lost easily to the one from 2011, by a vote of 14 to 5.

This year's cover was no match for the overwhelming force that is known as Baby Met. The Mets inaugural year book from 1962 gets the first unanimous victory of this contest, garnering all 21 votes in the battle against the 2018 yearbook.

The poll posted today, featuring 1984 vs. 1995, is the final poll of the first round. We'll take a brief hiatus now to allow the polls that are still open to run their course. Round Two will begin early next week.

These are the polls that remain open for voting:

The 1986 yearbook has defeated the 1993 edition by a vote of 12 to 7.

No new polls this week, but the Yearbook Cover Derby marches on as last week's polls continue to close. Today we note the 14 to 3 victory that 1968 won over the 2012 cover.

Another day with no new polls, but with an old one closing. 1975 has defeated 2005 by a vote of 10 to 5.

On Monday we'll see a new version of the brackets graphic, plus a final recap of the first round. Second-round voting will commence on Tuesday of next week.

We have our second unanimous winner. In the 29th poll of the first round, the 1988 cover received all 17 votes cast, thus eliminating the 1991 revised edition.

Sorry, Vince and Hubie!

Our 30th first-round poll, which spanned exactly a half century of yearbook covers, received a mere 13 votes, but Willard Mullin's 1965 cover got 11 of those 13, and thereby advances to the second round as 2015 retreats to the sidelines.

Hang in there! The second round will begin in just a few days! Our lives will once again have meaning and purpose!

Thank goodness. I've been thoughtfully comparing and contrasting matchbook covers all week and it's just not the same.

Our first round has had very few close votes, but this one was in fact close. With only a two-vote margin, the 2007 cover, in something of an upset, has knocked out the 1973 cover by a vote of 10 to 8.

Tomorrow will mark the closing of the 32nd and final poll of the first round. Be sure to visit this thread again tomorrow for an update of our brackets graphic and a few other fun facts about the first round. Second-round voting will begin on Tuesday morning.
