EXPECTATIONS FOR 18: Jamie Callahan

I'm Jamie Callahan, and I'm the first of three arms that came over from Boston in the Addison Reed deal. In fact, of all the pitching the Mets piled up down the stretch last summer, me and Incrediboy are the only ones to have appeared for the big team so far. Don't be surprised, be ready or something.

Yeah, it ain't September, and most everybody is healthy, so to stay a Met, I have a fight on my hands, but it's like that. I'm a former second round draft choice by the mighty Boston Red Sox, went to camp last year with them in fact, and I like the hard stuff, using the fastball to set up the splitter and the slider. I also like to work with the tongue outside my mouth. So David Wright is on the field in spirit.

That's what I bring to the table, now what's the table going to look like in 2018?

I'm been bringing it since high school. The heat and the tongue, which, yeah, impeded my speech a little bit.

I was thinking that too. And then I left it in there wondering if somebody might point it out if I had it wrong.

Swapping teams and numbers and kind of swapping faces too, I guess. Addison usually looked a little dorkier than that but I guess it's him.

First in, last out?

Of 9 appearances last year he had 2 bad ones, although I don;t really have a feel for him yet, he's an interesting guy in being a high school high draft who's always been a reliever and he's only 23. Worst enemy of Hansel Robles, from whom I stealing his 2016 line:

6-4, 3.48, 64 games, 77 innings. That's pretty agggressive on the opportunity side.
