The previous record was 19, set by Hodges-Hunt-Neal-Moran four times in 1963, and tied by Cook-Hunt-Kanehl-Moran that same year, and by Smith-Samuel-Hunt-Moran in 1964. We saw some 20's in 2010, with Davis-Cora-Wright-Reyes. The lengthiest-named starting infield? 36 letters, on July 11 and July 19, 1971. Clendenon-Martinez-Aspromonte-Harrelson. I don't forsee Hu lasting long, but I imagine there is a slim chance we could get Evans up here for Harris and maybe he backs up Wright and we can get 17?
  2. if you recall my KTE (btw, now 0-3 on IGT, and 0-2 on KTE..sight..) i compared Jonathan Sanchez to Oliver Perez. Wayne Hagin just did the same thing.

Got to see if he can do anything in a start before we piss off that Flushing Times reporter. I like our chances for victory today. Just a feeling. I predicted a 5-2 win in my post about the Mets fans at the Giants game last night. I'm thinking 7 innings for Pelfrey, 2 runs score on a walk-hit-double. Izzy, K-Rod, game. Really I just want a mostly stressfree win and move on to the Dodgers. Hu batting second since he's playing second. Please tell me Terry just found an old lineup card on the dugout floor or something. I'm having jerry flashbacks.

  10. Edgy DC wrote: To the extent that the Mets did well, it was mostly their pitching and defense keeping them in the game. defense, except for a couple of key moments.. But last night it's like "Oh, there' a 1-out double! nice" or "oooh, first and third, no outs!" or "Lincecum's through 5 innings with 88 pitches, our middle of the order coming up! This is the chance to get a run and/or make sure we have at least 2 innings of bullpen!" The same with Halladay, they worked him and got a lot of hits. Obviously you gotta credit the pitchers for buckling down and spreading out those hits and what not. It was always nice how Johan pitched better with RISP, but the culprit from the Mets side remains the same: hit with RISP or you're going to lose 140 games.. Last night I wasn't expecting another inning from Lincecum. Beltran and Davis got hits off of him in the 6th to create trouble, and I credited the scoreless inning more to Paulino Harris and Pridie than Timmy.

  12. It's weird, I felt like the Mets actually did well against all three Cy Young award winners, but when you actually look at it, they didn't do very well at all.
  13. It wouldn't have been as stark had the Mets given us anything to cheer for. I kinda wonder how many of those "Giants" fans were Mets fans recently who've decided to 'embrace the roots' or something as an excuse to jump on a bandwagon. Some observations without the benefit of replays. It looked like the strike zone was huge and they were calling every flinch a swing. On Ike's single Beltran paused like it was a liner, but it looked like a clear grounder to me that he should've been running on, and surely would've scored. He stepped back to 2B at first. I was kinda hoping for a squeeze with Harris in the 6th. he'd already hit two double play balls and at least at that point in the game Timmy wasn't really fooling anybody, both real hitters in the lineup that inning saw the ball and hit the ball so I think Harris probably could've gotten a bunt down the 1B line..

That's different than the ridiculous Hu that's on the Mets bench. What's Mandarin for ZING? ? or Chng phoentically according to google.

  16. Updating this.. Beato with tendinitis.
  17. G-Fafif wrote: O'Connor called up to take place of tendinitis-stricken Pedro (right elbow). Fuck, huh? is it contagious? Isn't that what Young had? bleh.
  18. I want to reply and say "Cain and Posey" or get lost.
  19. Because Mets fans would rather discuss who to trade their best players to then root for them to succeed.

Yes, Ceetar I get that. I'm sure Bay's not being held prisoner in his home however. He's not sitting at home twiddling his thumbs either. Even if he were to 'pop over for the game' and ignore BP and all that, he'd still have to leave by like 5 and not get home until well after 11, if not longer.

  24. I'll be there. first row promenade, 411.
  25. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I thought he was only going to miss two games? I think they said 2-3, but I guess it depends. it's an early game Tomorrow. so even 48 hours misses three games, and where does Bay live? Canada? Seattle? It is what it is, but I'm not going to begrudge him that. MLB instituted paternity leave for this very purpose.
