  1. Here's a healthier trend line for somebody else who has gone top ten. Career Saves as a Met 1. John Franco: 276 2. Armando Benitez: 160 3. Jeurys Familia: 124 4. Jesse Orosco: 107 5. Billy Wagner: 101 Edwin Diaz Projected to End of Season: 100 6. Edwin Diaz: 92 7. Tug McGraw: 85 8. Roger McDowell: 84 9. Francisco Rodriguez: 83 10. Neil Allen: 69 11. Skip Lockwood: 65 =#0000BF]Edwin Diaz at Start of Season: 64 12. Braden Looper: 57
  2. Not all rookies had a bad night. The Orioles were down with two out in the ninth last night, as rookie Kyle Stowers hit a can o' corn popup in foul territory. But it ain't over 'til it's over. Two hands, Adam Engel.
  3. No news here, but worth recording. Transactions, 8/25/2022 [td90]Direction[/td90][td90]NEUTRAL[/td90][td90]Transaction[/td90][td90]Sent to Brooklyn on Rehab Assignment[/td90][th]Position Group[/th][th]=#BF80FF] Infielder[/th][td90][/td90][td90][fimg=90]https://img.mlbstatic.com/mlb-photos/image/upload/d_people:generic:headshot:67:current.png/w_213,q_auto:best/v1/people/500871/headshot/67/current[/fimg][/td90][td90]Name[/td90][td90]Eduardo Escobar [fimg=50]https://thecranepool.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/venezuelan-flag-small.jpg[/fimg][/td90][td90]DoB[/td90][td90]1/5/89[/td90][td90]B/T[/td90][td90]S/R[/td90][td90]High Level[/td90][td90]MLB (2022)[/td90] Eduardo went 2-for-4 with a run scored and RBI in his first rehab start.
  4. Tip of the hat and a tap of the cup to rookie Yankee reliever Greg Weissert, getting called on to make his major league debut mopping a a 13-2 lead for his team, plunked a batter with his first pitch, balked, and hit the next batter with his second pitch. Better results next time, Mr. Weissert.
  5. Yeah, his pace is three wins in 126 games = 3.86 wins in 162 games. Maybe not the most likely outcome, but far less absurd than projecting a guy who hits two homers in his team's first three games to finish with 108 homers. But the logic is the same either way. It's what one might call an unsophisticated model, but that hopefully makes for exciting times if and when deGrom surpasses such cautious projections, hopefully sometime early next week.
  6. Career Wins Credited to Mets Pitchers 1. Tom Seaver: 198 2. Dwight Gooden: 157 3. Jerry Koosman: 140 4. Ron Darling: 99 5. Sid Fernandez: 98 6. Al Leiter: 95 7. Jon Matlack: 82 8. David Cone: 81 Jacob deGrom Projected to End of Season: 80.86 9. Jacob deGrom: 80 =#FF8000]Jacob deGrom at Start of Season: 77 10. Bobby Jones: 74 Next highest among active Mets is Seth Lugo, in a tie for 38th place with 32.
  7. Frayed Knot wrote: So not only can this lead disappear inside a 48 hour span but the fact that we've got the Dodgers coming up makes it almost likely. It seems like this whole winning the division strategy thing comes down to six words: But we've got an easy schedule! Well, "We've got deGrom and Scherzer (and Diaz)" is also part of the plan.
  8. Mets undefeated in the Post-Zastryzny Era.
  9. Mr. and Mrs. Met can't pucker, though.
  10. Well, not a clean inning, but a return to something like his form after the last outing. I'll take it.

  12. Lawrence rubs the ball against his crotch during his setup before every pitch.
  13. Frayed Knot wrote: Yeah, we're a terrible pitch to Alonso from being in a 1-1 tie and, as in the MFY games, are leaving small villages stranded. I feel like the difference was Marte beating out that DP grounder.
  14. So, who do you like for the eighth? May? Otto? Givens? Joely? Clay?
  15. And he got him the second time!!
  16. That was strike three!
  17. And yeah, I try to get another out or two out of deG. before lifting him. Every one counts.
  18. Yeah, he's Vogelhurt on top of being Vogelslow. I definitely lift him if he gets on mid-game (like he just did). You have two starting quality bats on your bench and no pitcher to pinch-hit for, so why not?
  19. Well, they'd have a run here if they had pinch-run.
  20. I'm up for sending Ruf or Cahna in to run here.
  21. He really seems to be grinding out a solid start here with less than his best start. He's certainly shown he can do that, but it's just been such a rarity that he's had to in recent years. I hope there's no discomfort. Otherwise, this may be a real positive. He sure seems unhappy, though.
  22. Sharper slider against Blackmon.
  23. A Taijuan Walker slider and 99 on the gun so far. He can work with that.
