    From exploding scoreboards to Disco Demolition Night, to the father/son team that attacked Tom Gamboa, I always look at supporting the Sox as a kind of chancy situation. It is always a seventies situation there — like an airshow or a motorcycle stunt — where there is a good chance you are going to get wowed, a high likelihood you are going to get sunburned, a slight chance you are going to witness or fall prey to something dangerous and/or criminal, and a surprisingly high incidence of the curtain between the event and the audience being penetrated and/or blurred. They are the Action Park of baseball franchises. I imagine they set their price points to attract unsupervised teenagers who can't afford Cubs tickets. Also, they have a really odd but pure roster of celebrity fans — President Obama, Pope Leo, Chance the Rapper, Snoop Dog, Mr. T, Jordan, and pretty much anyone else who has starred for the Bulls.

    You may or may not have a memory of Andrew Toles, who was a multi-talented but only sometimes available leadoff hitter for the Dodgers from 2016–2018. Even before he started getting hurt, he was dogged by disciplinary issues that carried over through two university teams and two MLB organizations. He has been adrift since his last appearance on a field, and ultimately was diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder and anxiety, so that was some jackpot, but to the Dodgers credit, they just re-signed him (as they have every year since he fell off the map), just to keep him on health insurance.

    Second straight day that Acoonie has been wearing that bandage on his face. I don't know if he has a pimple, had a wart removed, or just got a painful cystic zit, but they have bandages for all skin tones now. Even in 2025, you just can't get the good stuff on the road.
