  1. Don't worry. He was riding the same wagon for Jordany at shortstop eight weeks ago. More importantly, did our house counsel just use "For all intensive purposes..."?
  2. He didn't look hurt or phased. It was as impressive to me as his performance. His control certainly seemed compromised on that last batter, though.
  3. Got the ol' fielding percentage up to .833, too.
  4. Certainly going to be a lot of interesting decisions, but, you know, may the best men win.
  5. Zvon wrote: That hit him right in the fuckin kneecap. I'd still be screamin. Excellent performance. Great and smart pitching by the looks of it. Ron had that right. The adrenaline dulls the pain. You call for the ball and sack up. Ten minutes later, the adrenaline abates and you're miserable as hell.
  6. Sixty more of those and you've tied Tom Seaver, Buster.
  7. That may be the first pitch that caught the dirt that I"ve seen. They may need to hook him.
  8. Didn't really want to see Tulo.
  9. That's Tim Teufel you're shaking hands with, kid. Show some respect.
  10. Ike now OBPing at .777 in his last 18 appearances.
  11. Really hate that railing/fence.
  12. Ministry of Crappy Calls, morelike.
  13. Harvey needs to do some hitting this winter.
  14. It's almost like he was told he was going to be on a short list in the second half and has deliberately altered his style to conserve pitches. On an 11.57-pitches-per-inning pace. Looking now at 104.14 thru nine.
  15. The interesting thing is that phrase that was written was probably pretty characteristic of the abuse that was being rained down on Robinson when the scene supposedly took place. In a sense, the foul slurs are appropriate, in an offensive art installation sense.
  16. Seventy pitches thru six. A pace for 105 thru nine.
  17. That's a low-assed pitch count. Let's hope he doesn't cut off at a certain count. And let's hope we pad that lead.
  18. Extra fun seeing them stare down the tunnel looking for a hitter. That used to happen back in the days when teams didn't always carry bullpen catchers, let alone sometimes two, plus a catching instructor. When a team needed their third-string catcher to pinch-hit, he had to dash through the tunnel from the pen to the dugout, not having gotten a look at the pitcher or maybe a chance to swing a weighted bat.
  19. As long as he hits like Bam-Bam Rubble.
  20. It is not censoring to choose not to release what has been written on your statue, your eyes notwithstanding. OE: But, yeah, it looks like Deadspin has the actual words.
  21. I have to say, I kind of like that (at least, so far), neither the content (beyond the swastika) nor photos have been released.
  22. Jackie Robinson statue at Brooklyn ballpark vandalized with swastikas and racial slurs
  23. So, where do I go to cast my ballot for Precedent Mookie?
