  1. Blisters heal a lot more readily than UCLs.
  2. Looks like Topps touched up Taylor's lip chancre at the finishing stage.
  3. Doesn't have the ol' chinscaping. He's sure got Murphy's ass flying out though.
  4. Mets keeping their perfect Larry Elliot Day record intact. And HELLO OLIVER PEREZ!!

  6. Thanks for the link-out. Larry had one of the best-composed card photos in Mets history. Could his eyes have been more blue? [fimg=350:3vcg5e30]http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mfu6TfYtCb8/TwFJ2CDjaEI/AAAAAAAADlM/ISQzi2gu7Hg/s1600/1967%2BLarry%2BElliot%2B%2528f%2529.jpg[/fimg:3vcg5e30]
  7. Depends on whether they are adding zero, one, or two to the DL. Need to sort that out. Sometimes, like when two guys get hurt in Phoenix, it's good to have a top farm team in the PCL.
  8. They were reviewing baseball birthdays from yesterday, and one of them noted, "Pete Rose and Greg Maddux the most prominent people born on that day..." and then realized he needed a qualifier and added "... at least among the baseball figures listed there." That clearly triggered a production assistant to search for people outside of baseball more prominent than Pete Rose, because a few beats later the broadcaster added, "It's RITCHIE BLACKMORE's birthday, for all you rockers out there. Great guitarist for Deep Purple, and I hope he's having a fine birthday wherever he is." I needed to pay for an MLB.tv upgrade to get the Met booth, and I didn't, so I worked with what I had. The D-Back booth was stronger than I remember it. I used to be able to rely on them being the drunkest most obnoxious bunch of louts. Working with the sound down and Howie and Josh two-three pitches ahead of the picture just wasn't happening. But Howie would have been proud of a Ritchie Blackmore shoutout.
  9. "The presence of him being here and the leadership he's always had, it's big for these guys," Backman said. "For a guy who's played in the bigs as long as he has and be down here, other players get to see his work ethic, his approach and that's very important. "I don't foresee him being here long. What he can bring to the table at this point in his career is a very, very good left-handed bat off the bench in key situations."
  10. Bobby F. Abreu is the correct answer. Still got those massive guns. Probably still capable of uncorking a throw from the warning track straight into the press booth.
  11. You want an outfielder? How about THIS Las Vegas 51? AVGGABRH2B3BHRRBITBBBSOSBCSOBPSLGOPS.47810235113005144300.556.6091.164 Name that man.
  12. Any word on the injuries to Lagares and Granderson? Is Chris Young eligible to be activated?
  13. Checking out Biggio, he announced his retirement July 24, effective at the end of the season, enough time to get one more circuit through most NL cities, where he could get (if the Mets are any example) a nice video scoreboard farewell montage, but not so much to plan pre-game ceremonies. And the Mets were the nominal home team of his Long Island childhood, so on second thought, I'm guessing he didn't spark much of a grand tour at all.
  14. Didn't Biggio get a full season retirement fest?
  15. Brown giving us a real Cowgillian performance thus far this season.
  16. That was one awful throw. Pitcher trying to hit EY in the butt?
  17. Duda-EY Jr.-Brown was not the defensive outfield alignment Sandy was imagining this offseason.
  18. Duda making is 2014 outfield debut.
  19. Lucas is 4-4 and over .300. But Davis pinch-running for a gimpy Laggy. THAT can't be good. Hate to think the game is gonna cost us two starting outfielders.
  20. Hey, Grandeson has been lifted.
  21. Crazyhack by Wright.
  22. This guy throws it straight.
  23. Nice job Murphy scoring on the Granderson single. Half surprised he didn't try and steal third with that exaggerated shift. Wright scores too!
  24. Ritchie Blackmore's birthday today. Things you learn from a Diamondback broadcast.
  25. Granderson looked like a righthanded batter hitting lefty as a goof there.
