  1. Well, Dick, here's the deal: I'm the best there is, plain and simple. I mean, I wake up in the morning and I piss excellence. And NOBODY can hang with my stuff. Uhhh... you know, I'm just a big, hairy American winning machine. If you ain't first, you're last. You know? Know what I'm talkin' 'bout? Sometimes, of course, I should've pissed a little more excellence the night before. The key to this season. Pissing more, but maintaining the excellence. What do you think? 2. The Cub defense meaninglessly bring their gloves out on the field, as De Aza, Granderson, and Wright whiff in order.
  3. I think it depends on his positioning. He throws sidearm coming in and from behind his ear when he's on his heels. Meanwhile, it's like we're not allowed to win or something. Come on, youse Mets. This bottle o' June 2015 is a crappy vintage.
  4. I'll say this for the Cubs: Kawasaki looks fearsome and wonderful on those goggles.
  5. And now we're mid-game and down 3-1. Would sure be nice to go into the season without a monkey on their backs.
  6. TransMonk wrote: Curtis became one of my favorite current Mets last season. Still, I see a bit of a dip due to age across the board due to age: .240/.335/.415/.750, 20 HR, 65 RBI. I'm not sure they will be able to stay committed to him leading off all year unless he duplicates last year's BB and OBP rates. That said, I'm not sure who would take his place at the top. A Nimmo/Lagares two-headed love beast.
  7. I'm a rational, engaged, educated citizen who has reinvented himself as a purveyor of insupportable conspiracy theories.
  8. I'm a middle-of-the-lineup slugger that has reinvented himself as a leadoff hitter. I'm a center fielder that has reinvented himself as a right fielder. I'm a Chicagoan that has reinvented himself as a New Yorker. I'm a Yankee who has reinvented himself as a Met. That's what I do. I reinvent. And I assert myself as a man who the SUCK label just won't stick to. What's in store for 2016? Surely something new. 9. Last urine-related news out of St. Lucie was the incriminating pee of Jenrry Mejia.
  10. Ashie is the first to toss the last guy over and the first to designate the next guy as the answer. It's his thing.
  11. What a terrible catch-22 it puts the wife in. By cooperating, she's undermining her husband's livelihood, and therefore seemingly undermining the interests of herself and her children. Even moreso in the NFL, where a released player gets squat.
  12. Ricardo "Ricky" Jacquez was a highly effective reliever for Kingsport in 2013 (30 strikeouts and a 1.74 ERA in 20 1/3 innings, with a fastball touching 97), but hadn't pitched since then. His 2015 season was knocked aside by a drug violation (it was his second, but I believe it was his first suspension). He was also kicked off the University of Texas baseball team for numerous unspecified violations, so he's not tumbling in the right direction, and I imagine the Mets were lucky to get whatever change they got for him. Here I was thinking that, "OK, well, if they have a Checker cab, at least that will be 10 cents worth of awareness." Nope.
  14. Two words: Sterling Award. Organizational pitcher of the year. While prospect watchers were talking about your Marcos Molinases or Chris Flexens or your, I dunno, Gabriel Ynoas, I was just getting it done in St. Lucie and Bingo. Thirteen wins in the minors, lockin' 'em down to the tune of a 2.89 ERA. Strikeouts? Who needs 'em? I keep my defense involved, man! So, I'm starting the season at, like, 12th in starting pitching depth, but I've got helium. And things could change, or bullpen transitions could happen. In a world where consonants like G and S could collide at the top of a name, ANYTHING can happen! So what's going to happen? [fimg=350]http://metsmerizedonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/robert-gsellman-400x285.jpg?6c20df[/fimg]
  15. Three errata. Duda, Campbell and Familia. Familia enjoyed the bulkiest share of the damage, giving up five runs while getting only two outs. But Harvey and Syndergaard did themselves no favors either.
  16. Like the Mets in 2000, the high stakes of the World Series makes Payback! too expensive a game to play at the time.
  17. Bottom of the ninth and it's 12-1 Nats. That doesn't feel very likable.
  18. I think there are too many people trying to show their "stones" as it is.
  19. The non-bladder story of the last two days has the Royals planning to use the opening series to retaliate for the alleged purpose pitch thrown by Noah Syndergaard in the World Series. Newsday's Marc Carig reported the plans, subsequently denied by Royals officialdom, one of them saying that forcing the Mets to watch a three-minute championship tribute video is enough.
  20. I've got a NASCAR name and an MLB game. I'm Raywilly Gomez, and I've gone 2-4 this spring. That's not a lot of PT, but I got an invite so I get a Soothsaying thread. Jeff Glenn didn't get no invite. I'm New York City born and bred, and I'd like to head back home to make my bed, if you get my drift. A lot has to break right (or wrong) for that to happen. I'm fully aware, but I'm a hustler. Interesting Raywilly Gomez fact: I was once traded for Ronny Cedeño, who was totally not a hustler. The Phillies totally traded up in the hustle category. What does that mean in nickels and dimes for my 2016 season. Only YOU know. Won't you enlighten us?'
  21. Grounds to the mound, and the pitcher "Ege" no relation) mishandles but gets Campbell by a hair. (Replay might have given Campbell the base.) Oh, wait. That's the ball game, for lack of a better term.
  22. Conforto down. Campbell up.
  23. We go to the bottom of the ninth. Mets being two-hit by four Marlin pitchers, none of whom went to Stony Brook.
  24. Tweetin' Mark Carig wrote: Harvey said "reading some pretty nasty things about what it could be" wasn't much fun. You know, I fully acknowledge that I'm fighting the temptation to crack wise about this, but broadcasting about your three-ways on the baseball field has at least a little to do with that, young Matt.
  25. End of six. Marlins 1, Tejada-Exilers 0.
