In America, best arm belong to Vladimir Guerrero. In Russia, best arm belong to Vladimir Lenin. Because anybody who threw harder, he went to Siberia!

In Russia, President requires all athletes pay honor to Mother Russia. In America, President pay honor to Mother Russia!

In America, you get suspended if you take the drugs. In Russia, is, how you say? REQUIREMENT!

In America, one day you face Cubs, and then you face the Reds. A few days later, maybe you face Braves or Cubs again! In Russia, you always face Reds!

Probably the top player on the 1965 Mets. And maybe the hardest-to-guess top player for any Mets team.

In 2015, the Mets got Eric O'Flaherty for minor leaguer Dawrin Frias, and did so after the trade deadline, so I imagine they might similarly be exploring opportunities to move Jerry Blevins.

I'd certainly be chuffed if Yakov Smirnoff bought in.

He must get a lot of calls for Barbara.

How do you feel about possibly dealing Flores? Bautista and Mesoraco?

I like the between-innings goofiness. It gives you a good look at the small town you're visiting. On the other hand, I like The Gong Show.

A six-of-ten record over the last 10 for the Brooklyn Cyclones doesn’t really sum up how strong Edgardo Alfonzo’s forces have been. The Clones pitchers have produced two shutouts in the last 10 games and have been in control of the game and keeping opposing offenses in check most nights. I don’t like to keep going back to the same well, but Jaison Vilera has stepped it up from notable to stupefying. I mean, he looks at Jacob deGrom’s season and thinks, “That’s cute.” His seven scoreless, two-hit innings yesterday against the West Virginia Black Bears not only advanced his record to 5-1, but lowered his ERA to 0.78. IT’S STUPID! His WHIP is now down 0.83, and 0.95 for his career. He’s struck out 56 in 46 innings while walking only 15. He’s yet to allow a homer. The guy is now in his third season of professional ball and his highest ERA over any season has been 1.88. Call him up NOW!!! OK, maybe not. But let’s get him on the fast track. [fimg=450]http://metsminors.net/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Screen-Shot-2018-07-29-at-6.52.09-PM.png[/fimg] Emerging in the bullpen has been this season’s fifth-round draftee out of Clemson, Ryley Gilliam. The right-hander from Braves’ territory (Marietta, GA) also pitched in yesterday’s West Virginia game linked above is unscored upon in his first six pro innings, striking out nine while walking two. It looks like the Roberto Alomar trade is still paying dividends for the Mets as Brooklyn pitching coach Royce Ring has his pitching staff humming on all cylinders. [fimg=600]https://i.ytimg.com/vi/jHDSj7x56Pg/maxresdefault.jpg[/fimg] Briefly mentioned in passing above is 2018 12th-rounder Ross Adolph but he’s now emerging (emerged?) as the ‘Clones top offensive threat. Zipping along with a balanced batting line of .283 / .362 /.469 // .831, Ross also leads the team with 7 stolen bases (against 2 times caught stealing). Doesn't fuck around on defense, either. [fimg=600]http://thecourier.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/vbvvanb05.jpg[/fimg] After a craptastic 2017, the Brooklyn representatives in the New York-Penn League now find themselves in a more familiar position of serious contention, but at 23-19, still sit 4 1/2 games behind the Tampa Affiliate Hudson Valley Renegades, and a 1/2 game back of the rival Staten Island Yankees in The New York-Penn League McNamara Division. Head on out to the beach tonight to see them hosing the Tri-City ValleyCats as #2 starter Christian James takes the hill against the top team in the New England-oriented New York-Penn League Stedler Division. Hey, Swarzak finally showed up.

Plawecki saves the day. And Chelsea saves the save.

Oddly, the Mets load the bases, and the only one who didn't reach via an HbP is Nimmo.

Assuming that this data is accurate (I have no reason to believe that it is not), I still think that you are interpreting it in order to confirm your bias. Maybe the NL pitchers get compensated more because they appear more effective due to the luxury of pitching to the pitchers, and that throws off the mena. Even if that's true and not you absolutely guessing with nothing to back you up, in order to confirm your bias, so what?

Instead he gets the opposite field hit. I'll take it. I'm glad to see Austin Jackson getting on base, but isn't he supposed to have some wheels? He's failed to break up a double-play already today, and now he fails to go first to third.

LOOking for a PlaweckiBOOM! here.

Great interview with Clint Hurdle after a great interview with Ray Searage at the start of the game.

Met pitchers, if you want a lead, you've got to get the ribbies yourself.

Forget about driving a truck. You could land a plane in the hole between first and second.

I've always thought this is overstated. Mean salaries between the National League and American League do not split meaningfully from year to year. Some years, the NL leads. Some years, the AL leads. It's always close. In my world, you offer universal pitcher batting, and everybody celebrates, because it is a good thing.
