The old one-handed homer. Should've come in on the guy.

This pitcher looks like a sleazy Matt Dillon character.

Are modern percentages worse as compared to previous eras? Maybe, but I have a sneaky suspicion that such a claim can't be backed up by data. It's pretty intuitive if you consider the ballooning strikeout rate. I think this might be the game Sewald gets his win.

Laggy cracks in the tying run. Look at Puig. The best arm in the league trying to plead the ball as dead rather than throw it in.

And Lagares is earning his munny today.

Stroman makes #7 look done for the day.

And Paneek breaks through with a McNeil slash. Show your stuff here, Pete.

Steven Matz bringing his infectious joy to the booth.

This guy is throwing absolute meat. How have the Mets not gotten to him yet?
  10. Edgy MD
Absolutely terrific to have the whole crew back in the booth, especially as Stroman and Lagares shut 'em down in the first.
  11. Edgy MD
I noticed that and thought I fixed it. I clearly did not.

I think sometimes 538.com can be stretched for subjects. On the other hand, once at SPIN, thumbing noses at "overrated" and "underrated," we published a list of "THE MOST CORRECTLY RATED BANDS."

Geronimo with Wahoo's grin is creepy.

Well, Rafael Santana's uniform is an interloper, and Ralph Kiner was never technically a Met.

Personnel issues in the Standings Office needed to be sorted out. Until then, I've asked Maja to step in until she has the new staffers up to speed. https://metsrostercentral.files.wordpress.com/2019/08/screen-shot-2019-08-21-at-4.41.08-pm.png> https://metsrostercentral.files.wordpress.com/2019/08/screen-shot-2019-08-21-at-4.39.47-pm.png>

    Omir Santos and Iron-Eyes Cody.

Yeah, friends in funny uniforms for this series include Clippard and Ollie Perez in the pen, Kevin Plawecki behind the plate. Outfielder Jordan Luplow is the great nephew of early Met Al Luplow. While the GM in my head will always be Mark Shapiro as long as Moneyball is in circulation, the actual GM is Mike Chernoff, son of longtime NYC radio executive Mark Chernoff, who supervised the Mets relationship both as programming director with WFAN and now with WCBS. Former Mets catcher, catching instructor, and first base coach Sandy Alomar, Jr., coaches first now for the Cleves. Met from 2013 Scott Atchison answers the bullpen phone. Valentine-era pitching coach Dave Wallace is a special advisor.

Works for me! Thanks! I guess "Myron Ginsberg" = "Joe Ginsberg," but WTF is "Allen Gallagher"?

I believe the replay center in Chelsea ruled that we are no longer to consider Plutko to be a planetk.

That cuts out Alonso's nearest competition for Rookie of the Year. It'd be nice for the Mets to beat up on Mike Soroka just to be sure.
  21. Edgy MD
    OK, then, bring it on.

I think it was mentioned in another thread, but your special guest best friend tonight was Pittsburgh, beating the Nats 4-1, by (you guessed it) burning down their bullpen. Most everybody else currently jockeying with your heroes won and stayed even, but I guess there's no harm in celebrating the Cards' win over Milwaukee, putting the Brewboys a game and a half behind the Mets. Wait a minute. Yes there is. Rooting for the Cards just feels gross.

Alonso's having just a magical season, but at this point, the MVP's a two-man race between Bellinger and Yellich, no?

    Sea Deuce!

I guess it doesn't preclude you from mixing with the wrong sort of sort, and get you involved with the dumbest ventures possible. I'm not sure what the freakiest part of this is: that this guy is nicknamed "El Abusador," or that he was allegedly behind the hit on Papi. Maybe Papi tipped off the Feds.
