  1. Thanks, Mr. Wendle.
  2. They should put Mazeika in to pitch here.
  3. Gary Carter called one too many fastballs there.
  4. Terrific pitch. Terrific job by the batter going down and hitting it. Terrific job by the thirdbaseman catching to the line drive. Terrific job by the baserunner not getting picked off. Terrific baseball.
  5. Well, this is a sucky turn.
  6. MayLindy looking like AprilLindy tonight.
  7. Well, I guess that confirms my theory that the Mets don't want McNeil playing at full speed. Let's disaster-proof this game.
  8. Pretty cool that John Hernandez had two sons and both were L/L firstbasemen.
  9. Edgy MD wrote: I wouldn't call those two strikes against Alonso bad calls, but any pitcher who gets those calls is going to be hard to hit. Peterson seems to be getting them, as well. He is. In fact, David Peterson may be fast becoming my favorite Bangle. Sorry, Michael Steele.
  10. I wouldn't call those two strikes against Alonso bad calls, but any pitcher who gets those calls is going to be hard to hit.
  11. Is Mr. Smile's new hair color a tribute to Yoenis Céspedes' canary compression sleeves?
  12. Villar is making a run for May PotM.
  13. Nobody should be getting away with the shift, but less than nobody should be able to get away with it against Lindor. He's got the wheels to lay down a bunt and run to first backwards.
  14. Nice to get three quick outs on five pitches when all three batters ripped the ball.

  16. Well, McNoodle has played more left, and more outfield overall, than Smitty — and he's played better outfield than Smith — but I imagine they want to avoid deploying him in high gear if they can help it.
  17. Looks like the Braves are going to have to take at least one more dip into the catcher marketplace.
  18. Sometimes, sadly, the deeper you dig, the more skeletons you find, but we also have tearful reunion in today's report. What really makes you want to stop and clap, though, is his total of 29 walks against only seven strikeouts. Twenty-nine walks! In 14 1/3 innings! Amazing! But then there was those 11 walks, which would seem pretty prodigious in any context that didn't include Luis Silverio. Twenty six! In 14 innings! He's somebody you'd want your daughter to marry, and frankly, judging by his one season, is the guy you'd think the best bet to support your daughter on a baseball salary. He reportedly didn't have strikeout stuff, but 9.9 batters per nine in the DSL ain't nothing. Alas. I figured he'd get his next shot in what's left of the Can-Am League just based on his name alone, but he got a call from the Mets last week. His résumé would suggest that he's ready for a AAA assignment, but he'll probably get more lower-level seasoning after all that time off. He hopes to one day be as famous as his sister Savannah, who starred for Cal on the volleyball court after recovering from liver cancer — including transplant surgery — before transferring to Marquette for her senior year. 19. Right now, it's Justin Dunn rolling in the most profit for the Mariners on that trade. The Mariners also have another outfielder, Jake Scheiner, who they got from the Phillies for Jabe Ruce, that's tearing it up at AA. Scorekeepig on that trade may go on for a long, long time.
  20. Just remember how long those hours go following a loss, or in the midst of a losing streak.
  21. Because that's what happens in a dysfunctional organization. You adhere to policy rather than purpose, scared to do anything else. I wouldn't be shocked to learn the person who sent that e-mail is also the one that put the Mr. Met kit on the back of some entry-level ticket office part-timer. I wouldn't be surprised if the e-mail was sent by the guy who was in the costume.
  22. I totally agree, and I wouldn't try to endorse hesitancy. If anything, I'm hesitant about what comes next, about the CDC guidance being herky-jerky, and about small businesses and localities left to go it alone on enforcement.
  23. Sorry. Late posting. Link fixt. https://www.screenslate.com/articles/mets-trevor-hildenberger-americas-two-favorite-pastimeshttps://www.screenslate.com/articles/mets-trevor-hildenberger-americas-two-favorite-pastimes
  24. Turns out the Sidewinder is an absolute reelhead. His apparent fallback job if baseball didn't turn out was going to be film criticism, and he says almost nothing stupid in this https://www.screenslate.com/articles/mets-trevor-hildenberger-americas-two-favorite-pastimesthis profile of a man and his film jones. I became most interested in film in my sophomore year. I was having a hard time picking a major. I was finding my way, as a nineteen year old does. In an English class we read Children of Men, and then we had to watch the movie and write about how a scene related to the book. So I wrote about that famous scene, the six-or-seven minute long one take. I really enjoyed writing that paper, it was something that I could sink my teeth into, and I didn't lose interest — which was new for me at the time. My professor at the time said, “This is actually a pretty good paper, you did a good job. Have you ever thought about studying film, or taking a film class in general?” That summer I took a film history class — and from there I started watching more and more movies, started a little DVD collection, started going to Rasputin in Berkeley and buying ten DVDs for ten dollars. I would spend a lot of my time off the field and away from my friends watching films — trying to catch up, just having a good base of classic films. Summer of 2011, I watched a lot: I took a Spielberg class, I took a Kubrick class, and I loved ‘em. I wrote my thesis on comparing Hayao Miyazaki and Steven Spielberg's choices in filmmaking — both medium and narrative and themes and how growing up post-World War II world influenced their lives and their work. Apparently, at Berkeley, even the jocks have to study and declare a major and stuff.
