Tovie has MLB experience. He's a known quantity. That means something to somebody. I mean, Hager had never even been on a 40-man before.

That was the least surprising news possible sadly. The team is not only losing guys hand over first to the IL, but hemorrhaging roster occupants every time they have to add a replacement. Played three games, and according to IMDB, three different positions. Apparently, being sent in to pinch run for Nido in his last game (the 12-inning win over Miami) qualified as an appearance at catcher, according to the DB.

Well, I'm pretty sure we have at least two or three Dellin Betanceses on the list right now. But if you have 17 DL'd players, it's certainly unlikely that they'd all be role players. Strange that there have been no catchers among them, though. (Tomás Nido immediately plunges his hand into batter[y] acid.)

This isn't all the doing of injuries, though. There's some haphazardness in the deployment that just doesn't serve the situation.

I would guess it's massively improbable to see a AA team — even a 2-15 one — that doesn't have at least one player with a big league future of some sort ahead of him.
