  1. Game 2: 2nd inning: Damon 2-out RBI single 4th inning: Jeter 2-out 2R HR 5th inning: Cairo 2-out RBI single 6th inning: Matsui 2-out 2 RBI double Game 3: 1st inning: Rodriguez 2-out 2R HR 2nd inning: Cairo 2-out RBI double followed by a Damon RBI single That's 10 of their 16 runs (so far) in this series that have come off of 2-out hits. And I don't think we want to even discuss how our 2-out hitting has been going.

  3. I like our "G's" at the end of the lineup better than their "C's"
  4. SS - Reyes C - LoDuca CF - Beltran 3B - Wright 1B - Delgado DH - Valentin RF - Green 2B - Gotay LF - Gomez
  5. I think Joe is actually more concerned with overusing Farnsworth since he's usually been the one who is noticably worse in the multiple innings and/or multiple days situations. So he prolly figured he get MR some work since he's the "known quantity" and then - with the night game after day game - have them both reasonably usuable for Sunday. Plus, having to go to his pen in the 4th inning burned up some of the other options. Nice that it all backfired.
  6. Reyes - 1.0 Gotay - 2.0 Gomez - 1.0 Castro - 1.2 LoDuca - 1.0 Delgado - 0.3 Wright - 0.5

Broken bat single in 1st inning on Friday then 0-fer-9 since w/only 4 balls hit fair and only 1 of them out of the infield. Sheesh! Good signs in the debacle: - we made Rivera throw, what? 35-40 pitches and give up 5 hits. May affect him and/or help us tomorrow - nice ABs by Gomez & Reyes in the 9th - nice game by Gotay ... until the 9th - 15 hits, even if most of them were still singles - hits in the last 2 ABs by the ice-cold Delgado and in the last 3 by the almost as icy LoDuca - ummm, not much else
  8. I don't even see any clouds
  9. In fairness to Schoeneweis, that was a seeing-eye bouncer and a broken-bat dunker. It's just that his track record this season doesn't get him the benefit of the doubt. 12 SBs against Castro w/o any CS ?!?!? That's surprising.

    Ollie

I saw him doing that ball rolling-on-the-hand deal last night and thought; 'I love it, cuz it's the kind of stupid shit that I do'
  11. The problem with missing Alou isn't just him but that it's coincided with the injuries to Green, Beltran (short-term), Chavez & Milledge putting us into a situation where we're depending on backup options C, D, & E - Gomez, Newhan & Ledee. Combine that with missing a good RH bat while the LHs are slumping and his absence tends to get magnified. Gomez certainly hasn't had the minor league power numbers that Reyes did, and the plate discipline is still a question. Good athleticism but def still a work in progress. I thought that Cairo ball would have been out.
  12. Perez - 4.6 Reyes - 2.5 Gomez - 1.3 Wagner - 1.0 Feliciano - 0.3 Smith - 0.3
  13. Tough to work him into the game notes while he's 3,000 miles away. In all seriousness; - where was Matsui going? Great play by the kid but what a bonehead play! A chiller, by Godzilla !! - Prediction: Much will be made of the small-ball "strategy" of the night but only the first SB actually help create a run. None of Reyes's three mattered in the end and the two CS (particularly the first) may have killed at least one run. The bunt hits were nice though. - Those swings by Cano on several pitches that should have walked him are why I thought the 'Carew-like' projections for him last summer were over-blown. He's got a nice swing but almost needs to hit .300+ to be worth much. - Torre going to Bruney w/two outs and no one on just to get Franco (who he didn't get) surprised me a bit too. Myers had just gotten 4 straight (two righties) with no ball leaving the infield. - Delgado ... brrrrrrrr
  14. Jacklyn Jada Pinkett Anna Nicole * And, on that note, I become Jeff Kent
  15. * "Thoughts on the Game" is a trademark of Ms. Met Productions and was used here with absolutely no permission whatsoever. 1) Yo Ass-Head. Between the spiky haircut; the 'gee don't this stubble make me look tough for the big game?'; and the 'watch me go through this childish pre-game ritual w/the Ruth monument to psyche myself up even though I didn't come to this team until my mid-30s and then only after rejecting them when I was first a FA'; nonsense, this imitating a dumb High-School jock isn't becoming a guy who has kids older than HS age you fuckin' Drama Queen !! 2) Mets strand 2 in the 1st inning !! 3) Little Ball comes through in the 3rd !! 4) DEFENSE !!!! (you knew that one was coming) Gomez robs a HR and doubles up the runner !! 5) Reyes goes Deep !! 6) Oliver retires 10 straight after Reyes' HR !! 7) Cano does Oliver several favors by going after bad 3-2 pitches !! 8) Pedro & Joe do the job in relief !! 9) More DEFENSE from Beltran 10) Wagner does the job !!
  16. But w/2 already out and a guy up who hasn't gotten a ball past the pitcher's mound all game (despite two hits) he's unlikely to score playing it conservative. I didn't have a problem with the try and it took a perfect throw to get him.
  17. It's Russian for Strike-out
  18. THAT's how you close out a game Billy Boy!!
  19. No need, they just replayed it: To the question about who would be in the 2-slot: - I'm going to think about it some more, not sure what I'll do yet To a question about putting LoDuca at #2: - pretty much shot that down immediately, especially MadDog's thought that PLD at the top would "energize the lineup" To Francesa's suggestion about putting Beltran there: - You may wind up looking smart before the night is over "Are you saying ira is clueless or a liar?" We report, you decide
  20. I heard (most of) that interview and don't remember him ruling anything out. M&MD specifically suggested it and he gave the standard non-committal "considering several possibilities" angle.
  21. Met Lineup: Reyes - SS Beltran - CF Wright - 3B Delgado - DH LoDuca - C Green - RF Valentin - 2B Franco - 1B Gomez - LF
  22. Wright - 1.0 Reyes - 0.4 Valentin - 0.4 Green - 0.4 Mota - 0.4
  23. SOLD to the Irishman in the third row!
  24. btw, I grabbed the Astros even though I already have two because I think they were left off the orignial claim sheet and no one ask for them specifically. If someone who either doesn't have a team and wants in on this, or maybe someone who wants a second, step on up. If not, I'll do 'em ... no biggie.
  25. We got the sweet part of the order coming up next inning: Rotblatt will be followed by Doc Tee and G-FaFiF, then, if anyone gets on, GWreck DatesTeamSageJune 18-20TwinsRotblattJun 22-24A'sDoc TeeJun 25-27CardinalsG-FaFiFJun 29 - July 1PhilsGWreckJuly 2-4RockiesOlerud OwnedJuly 5-8AstrosMetIrishJuly 12-15RedsJohnny DickshotJuly 16-18PadresCFJuly 19-22DodgersBoy Named SeoJuly 24-26PiratesLundyJuly 27-29NationalsEdgyDCJuly 31 - Aug 2BrewersTransMonkAug 3-5CubsKCAug 7-9BravesRockin' DocAug 10-12MarlinsSeawolfAug 14-16PiratesLundyAug 17-19Natl'sEdgy DCAug 21-23PadresCF Aug 24-26DodgersA Boy Named SeoAug 27-30PhilsGWreckAug 31-Sep 2BravesRockin' DocSep 3-5RedsJohnny DickshotSep 7-9AstrosMetIrishSep 10-12BravesRockin' DocSep 14-16PhilsGWreckSep 17-19Natl'sEdgy DCSep 21-23MarlinsSeawolfSep 24-26Natl'sEdgy DCSep 28-30MarlinsSeawolf
