  1. ="A Boy Named Seo"]I still don't get why FOX "owns" airspace on regular season game, but think MLB should get the brunt of the noise for negotiating such a stupid deal w/ them. Simple answer is that they paid for it. MLB, as most sports (except for The Masters) do, lets TV dictate the terms and FOX is going to voluntarily give up the NYC market for their expensive game right after politicians start voluntarily giving up votes and campaign contributions. The Marlins, meanwhile, aren't televising that game locally at all so it's not like they care that SNY is blocked out for the first 55 minutes.

  3. One-time Met Heath Bell starts off his official closer life by coming into save a 1-run game v the Dodgers and promptly serves up a lead-off triple to NYM wet-dream Orlando Hudson. But then that other wannabe Met, Manny Ramirez, grounds out to a drawn-in infield. Then a walk, then a game-ending GiDP gets Heath his save. Dodgers & Padres split a 4-gamer.
  4. Stokes - 1.3 Feliciano - 0.6 Reyes - 0.7 Murphy - 1.0 Wright - 1.0 Delgado - 0.9 Beltran - 1.4 Church - 1.8

Except that the top of the lineup was coming up and no other logical place to PH Sheff. So, Sheff don't play. Or he gets used in extra innings. Big whoop. But he's been a better OBP man than Castillo over the years (and even recently) so it's not like he's an all-or-nothing guy who Jerry would be wasting by not saving him for a power spot that'll probably never come up. I'd rather go down using him and sitting Castillo than the other way around.

  7. btw, that was Carl Pavano for Cleveland coughing up 7 earnies in the 1st v Texas

  9. Anderson's been used already -- Sheffield, Castillo & Schneider are still on the bench. Dusty bringing in Weathers (sometimes the weather brings in dust)
  10. Tatis PH-ing for Church against Rhodes ... and promptly Ks
  11. btw, Hanley Ramirez - maybe 2nd only to Albert in NL offensive prowess - celebrated his first AB this season as a newly minted #3 hitter by sac bunting w/a man on 2nd and no outs.
  12. I hate when an audience sits through both shows
  13. 5 more than Wang & Sabathia combined
  14. Lots of Gay Dames today (it's like a Lilith Fair broke out in MLB!) Jays 6 - Tigers 2 in the 7th Mariners 1 - Twins 0 in the 8th Yanx 3 - Os 1 in the 4th (Teixeira & Swisher HRs) Rays 4 - BoSox 0 in the 4th Royals & ChiSox scoreless in the 3rd Rangers 9 - Indians 1 in the 2nd Pirates 1 - Cards 0 in the 5th
  15. A's at Angels game called off today.
  16. Dusty gets Rhodes up (see what I did there?) to face Delgado.
  17. Stokes gets through a scoreless 6th w/only a Votto single keeping it from being perfect. Top o' the order coming up.

With the starters not being able to go deep into games, he needs to prove himself more valuable than Marlon before the impending Livan roster move needs to be made. Not doing it: HBP / FO / 2RBI-1B O'Day can you see ... yourself being sent down?
  19. I feel pretty confident in saying that no subject pops up in as many discussions in the PotG thread than that of how to (or even if to) award the closer.
  20. Pelfrey - 0.8 Parnell - 1.0 Rodriguez - 0.7 Wright - 1.4 Delgado - 2.5 Beltran - 2.0 Schneider - 1.6
  21. Frankie's gonna walk guys. If that's a surprise to anyone either they've not been paying attention or they subscribe to the old fiction that if a closer blows a save (or even just gets into trouble) and a Met fan isn't there then it didn't really happen.
  22. Piece o' cake!

  24. 7-2 Braves as Blanton takes a beating in the 3rd.
