  1. Hamilton needed two SBs going into last night to break the record. By the 3rd inning he had three.
  2. Until G, K & R start to mention on a regular basis once the gap gets down to say single digits, I doubt most of even Met-dom is much aware of this (let's face it, none too impressive) record.

Now you see I would forbid them to field bunts for the time being, that way they'd at least avoid turning them into two-run doubles. So the new standing order would be to allow any bunts to simply roll to a stop before picking them up - or, at worst, go down into a goaltender's 'butterfly' move in order to knock down and stop any hard bunts that are in danger of going into the outfield. But for crissakes don't try to pick them up and throw them!

  10. A Youkilis Grand Slam in the 5th puts the ChiSox up 6-2 The Yanx jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the 1st which included a Jeter HR on the 1st pitch of the game. He passes Eddie Murray and gets to Rose-minus-1,000 and counting.
  11. The only team hitting worse than us this week is Colorado. The difference is that we're handing them the game and they're just opportunistic enough to take it as well as, let's face it, more than a bit lucky.
  12. We can't even throw guys out at home on throws from 10 feet away!!!!
  13. Just fuckin' pathetic. Facing what might be the worst pitching staff in all baseball and they have, what, maybe six hard hit balls in two games?
  14. That might have been the first time the Rox hit one right at one of our guys tonight. 'Bout time after all the cheesy hits they've rung up. Now if only I had some confidence that our offense could take advantage of that break.
  15. I think the only one with a "campaign" here is Megdal.
  16. If he slides in feet-first there Keith he would have been out. The "terrible" slide was the only thing that got him in there. Keith can get a bit unglued on stuff that doesn't adhere to his orthodoxy.

All are in the demarcated major-league "territory" of their respective parent clubs? Milwaukee/Nashville is the stumbling block here - and for most of the other connections I can think of.
  18. Right move to send him. There were two outs and it could be two more innings (or two more days) until our next hit.
  19. You didn't give us a Zero option.
  20. Do you suppose any of the Rox refer to their current 3Bman Pacheco as 'Doctor'? Nah, they're probably all too young.

The Mets own the team so they aren't moving, it's close to home, and it helps build/reinforce the Mets fanbase in Suffolk County. Heck, call them the Ducks. But since the Wilpons don't have money, the Mets JV will be 3/4 of the way across the country, playing in a league with inflated stats. Read some of the above posts and see the several reasons why your scheme CAN'T happen - none of which having anything to do with the Wilpon finances.

Reads as a ground out to pitcher but I don't know if it was a sac. No bunt, it was a come-backer where Torres was running on the pitch so it had the effect of a sac. The problem came when Torres didn't know when NOT to run.

  25. That's four long/loud outs for Wright in his last five ABs - in addition to his 2B & IW last night.
