Too much off-day, post-OTD energy not to say this: Fuck the Dodgers.

Every Old Timer dressed in the Met uniform of record (if you cover one eye so as to unsee the swoosh) bound them together as one team for all time. After a while, during the game, I found myself trying to remember if this one had played with that one because, in the moment, the years simply blurred.

Love lifts 24 http://www.faithandfearinflushing.com/2022/08/28/say-hey-you-gotta-believe/up where it belongs. Small correction, the Mariners did in fact have an issue with Cano's 24 wearing request. Same reason when Rickey Henderson joined the M's following his Met release in 2000. That number was unofficially mothballed as soon as Griffey Jr was traded to Cincy, only to be issued when he returned briefly in 2009-2010, before being officially following his HOF induction in 2016. So Cano wore 22 in his time in Seattle, 2014-2018, and Rickey was #35 in Seattle. Shoulda fact-checked. Thanks.

Tommie Agee is now synonymous with education in Esst Elmhurst. https://nypost.com/2022/08/26/queens-school-named-after-mets-tommie-agee-mayor-adams-childhood-hero/https://nypost.com/2022/08/26/queens-school-named-after-mets-tommie-agee-mayor-adams-childhood-hero/ His Old Timer teammates attended the dedication in his honor as did Hizzoner. "The great [Mets] Hall of Famer, Tommie Agee played the role model on the young men who grew up during that era,” said Mayor Adams at the dedication ceremony outside the new Tommie L. Agee Educational Campus, PS 419 in East Elmhurst Queens — not far from where the Mets play. “I was nine years old at that time and we were in dark places as children in South Jamaica, Queens,” he said, recalling his childhood and the great 1969 team. “When we saw that team, when we saw them play, it meant so much to us…Tommie Agee meant so much to me.”
