  1. Went with Straw in a photo finish over Seaver...
  2. That's pretty funny, I hadn't visited Eric's H19 thread yet.
  3. I don't think of Straw as Mr. Long Ball so much as remembering the seemingly- yearly spring quotes predicting a Monster Year that often fell short of monstrous?
  4. The New Yorker kinda Yucky. I could easily vote for the either of the remaining three. First round I need more time to decide.
  5. Frayed Knot wrote: Mets started that year with One game in SF (Wed), then played the next day in LA and again on Saturday sandwiched around an off-day Friday, before heading to Houston for a Sunday - Monday two-game series in advance of the home opener (SFG) at Shea on Wednesday. And we complain about odd schedules today! Bizzare indeed, I didn't pay attention the surrounding games in the list.
  6. =batmagadanleadoff post_id=4654 time=1553100939 user_id=68]I don't even know who Dave Berman is.
  7. Edgy MD wrote: Kase, is that Ellery Queen part of your collection? I suddenly feel a need to solve the mystery of what angle got Ron Darling that cover. No, new to me. More impressive is that it's not listed in a 282 page definitive Mets checklist I have from 2000. Great find by the CPF MCD Commish! batmags, tell me you're not Dave Berman!?!
  8. Frayed Knot wrote: That SI cover landed three weeks after Swoboda took an 0-fer-10 (including leading off an inning six different times with an out) w/5 Ks in the Mets' 24-inning 1-0 loss in Houston. Agee also took a double-digit oh-fer that night (although w/only 4 Ks) hitting right before Swoboda in the lineup and often making the final out in all those innings which allowed Rocky to lead-off the next. So while that year's Mets may have been movin', they weren't movin' very fast. Wow! http://leaptoad.com/mets/gamedetail.php?gameno=978April 15th, 1968 - UMD
  9. Put me down for Rocky!
  10. Kinda meh on Obi Juan... days numbered as a Met, best days behind Laggy...
  11. *bump* applaud nice write up.
  12. I hate to use the term throw in because he'll be a tad above that after a decent stint in 'cuse and part of a big trade in early July.
  13. I can't vote for Yogi's big Yankee mug. Went with Felix.
  14. I'd be shocked if Casey didn't go far in this tourney. Great photo.
  15. Howie said today on a call that he couldn't confirm something in the booth because they had no tv replay. Big market Mets.
  16. I should have left ad income out, I sunk myself with that. They don't want to pay for 2-3 truck-loads of AV stuff, the labor, etc. Cheap cost- cutting bullshit imo. Twins were on today, big market guys that they are.
  17. Not sure I buy the Gary slant; they have plenty of bodies to fill the booth in his SHbb absence as well as Ron's MLBtv commitments and Keith being Keith. They've been cheaping out fewer and fewer games it seems each year because they don't want to pay the pro- duction costs. I mean, who watches (dvr's) these games but us nuts? Ad money is probably next to nothing. I'm sticking with cheaping out.
  18. Yo retracto mis exclamatciones.
  19. ¡Santiago! vs. Strasburg
  20. He better, 'cause if they both suck we're in deep doo doo again...
  21. Matz: "I never pitch well on The Ides of March." (wind was blowing out to left fwiw, and the two I saw barely made it over the wall)
  22. Matz vs Hellickson
  23. We end in a 1-1 tie. Please check the area around you and under your seats and arrive home safely.
