The term “balanced scoring” is generally reserved for basketball, but it applied to the Binghamton Rumble Ponies on a historic Thursday night.
All nine batters had at least one hit (seven had at least two) and one run scored in a 23-3 beatdown of the Hartford Yard Goats. Eight of the nine drove in at least one run. Seven drew at least one walk. The team scored in seven of their eight innings at bat en route to shattering the single-game record for the current Binghamton franchise, which began play in 1992.
Of course, there were some “leading scorers”:
Mitch Voit: 5-for-6, five runs scored, two RBIs. He is still hotter than the sun. The five hits tied a franchise record.

Billy Amick: 3-for-4, two home runs, six RBIs. He has three homers in five games since being acquired from the Minnesota Twins in the A.J. Minter trade last week.
JT Benson and Corey Collins: Home run, three RBIs each. Benson’s homer was his first for Binghamton.
The only Binghamton hitter who didn’t have a great night was Jefferson Rojas, who finished 1-for-4 with a walk and a run scored. He also reached on a catcher’s interference.
Elsewhere in the organization:
Syracuse scored four runs on one hit in the bottom of the eighth to break a tie, and went on to defeat Columbus 10-6. MJ Melendez and Nick Lorusso homered earlier in the contest for the Mets.
Six Brooklyn pitchers combined on a one-hitter as the Cyclones edged Wilmington 3-2. Aidan Smith, another player obtained in the Peralta trade, homered for the second night in a row.
St. Lucie was on the wrong end of a blowout, losing 17-3 to Daytona. The Tortugas scored 11 runs over the seventh and eighth innings. Elian Peña and John Smith III each had two hits and a run scored.
DSL Mets Blue defeated the DSL NYY Bombers 9-8 on Royner Bravo’s RBI triple in the bottom of the ninth. DSL Mets Orange lost 2-1 in 10 innings to DSL Blue Jays Red. Maxgregori Harvey (four) and Olmedo Barria (five) combined for nine scoreless innings in a piggyback game.

Syracuse Rallies From Five Down To Stun Columbus
The Mets sent 11 batters to the plate in the eighth; Lorusso, the second batter of the frame, had the lone hit. He singled to put runners at the corners with no outs. Syracuse's runs scored on a wild pitch, two bases-loaded walks and a sacrifice fly. There also was a sacrifice bunt and a hit batsman in the frame.
Syracuse trailed 5-0 in the second after the Clippers battered starter Jack Wenninger. Andy Ibáñez got one back in the bottom half with an RBI groundout. Melendez’s two-run homer in the third cut the gap to 5-3. After Columbus scored in the fourth for a 6-3 lead, Lorusso hit a solo homer in the bottom half to make it 6-4. Syracuse then tied it in the fifth on Ronny Mauricio’s sacrifice fly and Ibáñez’s RBI double.
Wenninger kept the game close as he got through five. He allowed six runs on three hits, walked three and struck out six. Three Mets relievers followed and combined for four scoreless innings. Matt Turner, who pitched the eighth, was credited with the win.
Lorusso finished 3-for-4. He has homered in two of his first three Triple-A games since being promoted from Double-A Binghamton.

Binghamton Conducts Offensive Parade Vs. Hartford
The Rumble Ponies collected 21 hits and eight walks in the game. They went 11-for-23 with runners in scoring position.
An eight-run third inning sent them on their way. Voit singled in a run, one run scored on a passed ball, and then Amick and Benson belted three-run homers to make the score 9-0. Yairo Cuevas reached base twice in the inning with a double and a walk.
Amick went deep again in the fourth, launching a two-run blast that put Binghamton up 11-0.

All the offense made Gary Gill Hill’s job easy. Binghamton’s starter got through five scoreless innings in his first appearance since being acquired from the Tampa Bay Rays in the Freddy Peralta trade. He allowed three hits, walked two and struck out four before turning a 16-0 lead over to the bullpen.

Brooklyn Keeps Wilmington's Offense
Joel Díaz set the tone for the Cyclones' staff with three hitless innings, although he did allow a run thanks to three walks. Elwis Mijares allowed the Blue Rocks' only hit in the fifth, his second inning of work. Calvin Ziegler, Hunter Hodges and Joe Scarborough built the bridge to Juan Arnaud, who worked around two walks to earn the save. The last four relievers combined for eight strikeouts among the 12 outs they registered.
Brooklyn grabbed an early lead with two runs in the first. Sammy Stafura, the prospect obtained from the Pittsburgh Pirates for reliever Luke Weaver, led off with a single and later scored on a single by Trey Snyder. Yonatan Henriquez singled home Smith for a 2-0 lead.
Wilmington answered in the second with a hit by pitch with the bases loaded. Smith gave the Cyclones their two-run lead back in the third with a solo homer, his 12th of the season. The Blue Rocks sliced the margin to one again when a pickoff throw by Hunter went awry, allowing Eli Willits to score from second.

St. Lucie Unravels Late Against Daytona
The Mets were down 6-3 going to the top of the seventh, but the Tortugas ended any hopes of a comeback by sending 11 batters to the plate in the frame and scoring six runs. St. Lucie gave them plenty of help, with six walks (including one with the bases loaded), two wild pitches (one of which scored a run) and a throwing error that brought in another run. All the runs were charged to Jean Brito, but Luis Sotillo did allow two inherited runners to score.
Things got worse in the eighth as Daytona added five runs against designated hitter Julio Zayas, who was asked to finish the game on the mound. Zayas allowed five hits and a walk, and he also hit a batter. He pitched a scoreless ninth inning, though, working around a hit.
Zayas drove in the Mets' third run with a double back in the fifth, scoring John Smith III. Smith drove in Elian Peña with a double one batter earlier.
Jose Lopez started and took the loss. He was charged with six runs (all earned) and seven hits over 5 1/3 innings. He walked one and struck out six.
