Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 The Starter-Stroke-Soon-To-Be-Swingman feints at his usual first-inning run-tithing, then settles to fan Sunday Santana. On a rare change up, no less.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 Given three mandatory patriotism holidays per season, you'd think they could've come up by now with a goofy-lookin' helmet to match the goofy-lookin' hats.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 They do, sorta. Logo-appliqué-wise, anyhoo.Speaking of running stuff into the ground, with that sinker away to Santana, G-man again makes like a hero-complex arsonist again, putting out the fire he started hisself.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 Bucknor seems to be giving out that outside strike rather... inconsistently. (See: that backwards-K for Conforto.)
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 Are we getting something like vintage 2016 Gsellman? He's not overpowering anybody, but he's changing speeds and keeping everything around the plate.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 I feel asleep. Thanks for reaching out,
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 Good for you.Big shot Mets playing the infield back.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 And it's sure looking like playing infield back was something like the right strategy.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 Don't recall ever saying this about a sacrifice fly, but heckuva play all around.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 I got Robin Yount as one half of the trivia question. Is Rollie Fingers the other half?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 Sheesh, d'Arnaud is coming into the game next inning anyhow. Let him hit here.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 Edgy MD wrote:I got Robin Yount as one half of the trivia question. Is Rollie Fingers the other half?Pete Vukovich
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 I was OK with letting Gsellman hit there - mostly because of the state and recent history of the bullpen. Having them need to cover two in a lot less than three (50% less in fact). Now if Terry was doing so because he wasn't ready for the situation after the inning started 2-outs/none-on, then that's bad on him, but I wouldn't have pulled him anyway because of above.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 And Gsellman rewards Terry twice: with the walk and now with an easy-peasy 7th
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 Oooooh, fists went flying in SF.Didn't see what led up to it, but Harper took one right off the hip from SFG hurler Hunter Strickland. Harper winged his helmet en route to the mound then punches started flying and occasionally landing. More than your typical MLB tussle. The odd part was Posey staying behind the plate before very belatedly coming out.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 Bruce somehow has been given a YOU DON'T HAVE TO RUN TO FIRST ON A WILD PITCH STRIKE THREE card.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 Harper & Strickland both ejected, but Harper's run came around to score and it's now 3-0 Nats in mid-8th
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 I like to think that Bruce coming out on the double switch was punitive as well as strategic.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 The two '86ers are talking about the Strickland-Harper brawl again, for the second time in ten minutes. It seems like a video-clip madeleine for them-- the nostalgia is just dripping off of their words. "Good one, there. That was a GOOD one."

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 Mr. Reed, we're ready for your close-up.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 And here we go.You stick with Sewald until he gives up a baserunner, man.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 First pitch strikes are big for our man Reed.
