Jay Bruce saw his first action at first today, handing two putouts and one assist without worries over the first four innings. Yoenis Céspedes accounted for all the scoring as the Mets won, 2-1 behind four strong innings by Jacob deGrom. Reed, Cory Burns (a St. Lucie floater), Blevins, Smoker, and the already-farmed-out Corey Taylor each took an inning to bring the game home bucket brigade style.
