Edgy MD Site Manager Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 In 1951, a wickid stawm off the coast of Cape Cahd has somehow split an oil tanker in half. As the crew on the half of the boat that is still afloat bickers about how best to survive, a socially awkward Coast Guardsman, who is too upright to refuse an order, no matter how crazy, takes a 36-foot lifeboat (looked more like 25 in the film) on a suicide mission to find and rescue the stranded sailors. Now streaming on Netflix.[fimg=500:16jgnjgi]http://www.farewaymovies.com/media/movie/poster/4EljSOaIcGHaiuCy06EAS4AB0Np.jpg[/fimg:16jgnjgi]
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 I think I had seen the coming attractions for this at a movie theatre last year sometimes and thought it maybe had some potential. But of course it's often tough to tell with action movies since you can cutup a trailer to make just about anything look good. If only I had noticed the words, 'Disney Presents' prior to sticking this on my Netflix queue I might have saved those two hours for something productive(though probably not). But man this was lousy: from mediocre CGI storms; to guys who spend hours in wet, ocean, New England storms in February and yet never seem even remotely chilly the entire time; to tepid love stories and vaguely explained back-stories that are supposed to make us care about the characters. And if the execution of it wasn't bad enough, at least the conclusion was totally predictable right down to thefact that you could probably pick out the one guy in the whole picture who dies about a half hour or more before it happens. That BOTH brothers from HELL OR HIGH WATER co-starred here makes me almost want to knock a half-star of my rating of that movie but I can't blame the actors here, Casey Affleck included. The materialwas just that dull that there was no way for them to overcome it.Strongly worded letter to follow.
