Too many RIPs of late. This one is cruelest. Shannon Forde, who worked in Mets media relations literally half her life, died Friday at 44 after three-and-a-half years of batting breast cancer. I knew her a little and wrote about that here.

Just an absolutely warm and wonderful person.

Yeah, the remembrances coming out by current and former beat writers have been impressive. It's nice to know such a well-loved person found a home with the Mets, and sad to know she died so young.

She had to have been the nicest person on the planet. She's the only person I've ever seen who even had nice things to say about Jeff Wilpon. D-Dad and I were at a fundraising dinner a few years ago, and it was apparent just how much everyone in that room absolutely loved her.

RIP to a true shining soul.

Never met her myself, but Lord knows, we all know a Shannon. And whenever we lose one, the world gets a little bit more than a little bit worse.

Gary and Keith's pregame tribute today got me all choked up, and to be honest I didn't know who she was until a few days ago. Sounds like she was a credit to humanity and will leave a huge void in the organization.

The Mets will honor their beloved 44-year-old media relations director Shannon Forde — who died of breast cancer last Friday night — with a public memorial service at Citi Field on Wednesday at 3 p.m. All are welcome.
