Early impression: The first thing that strikes me is that I haven't seen him swing at a bad pitch yet. Took hacks at some borderline offerings w/2 strikes but those were protection type swings which he fought off nicely and has yet to go fishing for garbage (and isn't THAT a nice change?). The plate discipline and controlled swing are what the scouting reports have said about him and, small sample warning so far, he's been exactly that.

bah, Adam Rubin got out in front of that one, proclaiming a scout said it as recently as a month ago.


Looking good so far though. Hope it continues.
