Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 Gee I hope we can win this series.Dillon Gee -- not a 6th starter but one who has been inserted into the "Spot Start" role -- faces off against Mike Foltynwicz [3-2, 4.72, 1.49] a 23 y/o who had 16 relief appearances last year w/Houston but has started 8 games for the Braves this season since his call up on on May 1st. A former 1st round draft pick of the Astros (19th overall in 2010), they dealt him to the Braves over the winter for Evan Gattis, who I believe is an actual cave man.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 Atlanta at NY MetsWhen: 1:10 PM ET, Sunday, June 14, 2015Where: Citi Field, New York City, New YorkSportsDirect Inc.The National League East is available for the taking if either the New York Mets or the Atlanta Braves can put together a run. The teams will meet in the rubber match of a three-game series when the Mets host the Braves on Sunday. The Mets were the surprise team of the early going but are having trouble stringing wins together of late and dropped Saturdays game 5-3 in 11 innings to fall for the seventh time in 11 games. New York was without closer Jeurys Familia, who was home to be with his family following the birth of a child, on Saturday and had trouble getting the final outs in his absence. The Braves have dropped seven of their last 11 as well but avoided a three-game slide when Cameron Maybin drove in a pair in the 11th. Maybin is on fire of late with multiple hits in seven of 10 games this month.TV: 1:10 p.m. ET, FSN South (Atlanta), SNY (New York)PITCHING MATCHUP: Braves RH Mike Foltynewicz (3-2, 4.72 ERA) vs. Mets RH Dillon Gee (0-3, 4.50)Foltynewicz has been up and down since joining the Atlanta rotation and is in a funk of late with back-to-back rough outings. The 23-year-old was lit up for five runs on 12 hits and a walk while matching a season low with two strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings against San Diego on Tuesday. Foltynewicz pitched in relief against New York as a member of the Houston Astros last season and allowed three runs in 2 1/3 frames.Gee will return to what is being referred to as a six-man lite rotation, with rookie Noah Syndergaard being pushed back to Monday. Gee was moved to relief and worked 1 2/3 innings out of the bullpen against San Francisco on Tuesday but will fill in as needed in the rotation. The Texas native lost at Atlanta on April 11 but held the Braves to two runs in seven innings at home in a no-decision on April 22.WALK-OFFS:1. Saturdays loss dropped the Mets to 30-1 when leading after eight innings.2. Atlanta 1B Freddie Freeman is 6-for-13 with two homers and four RBIs in the last three games.3. New York INF Danny Muno is 2-for-24 and made three errors at third base on Saturday.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 All those ANTHONY RECKER IS SIMPLY GORGEOUS banners will be bittersweet, as Ravishing Recker has been sent to beautify Las Vegas, along with Danny Municipal Disaster Area. They make room for Gee and Tejada, each back from a respective sanctioned leave.

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 JCL & the Family carried the Ehrhardt banner on SNY.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 But three-run homers, those are hard to match.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 Simmons maybe impressed me more in missing that soft liner by Duda than in many plays he makes. He had no bidness being even in on that play.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 Two back. Might have been three or more, but two outs on the bases.Whose idea was that brick backstop, anyways?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2015 Author Posted June 14, 2015 What was that candy commercial slogan from a few years back: Not going anywhere for a while?Well this game isn't going to end anytime soon either.2 run innings are nice, but it would also be nice if we'd force the pitcher to retire more than one batter in an inning. And it would be nice if Dillon could maybe miss a few bats every now and then.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 They just cut to the Ehrhardt banner again.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 Second decker Ceciliani. That's something.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 Ron and Gary agree that we wasted Maybone there.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2015 Author Posted June 14, 2015 Yeah, we missed Travis.Shouldn't this Cuniff guy be playing for the Pirates ... and be managed by Terry?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 Folks missing a great game.Well, you're probably catching the game, BUT YOU'RE MISSING MY POSTS.TravisBOMB followed by something ever rarer, a Flores walk. He's suddenly a walk machine.

If he gets on then you've got Granderson up already w/2 hits under his belt for the day and and a runner on. And if not then you haven't wasted 1/4 of your bench.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 That deserves a curtain call.Anybody know what Laggy is wearing on his forearm band?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 So, who do you line up to pitch in the next three innings?#useastarter
