Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 The Puma is talking about the Mets looking to land a lefty reliever to go along with incumbent Edgin. It may be by trade or via FA but, unlike the SS market which they seem willing to wait out, they'd like to land a reliever quickly like before the end of the winter meetings in early December. His sources eliminate the possibility of Andrew Miller -- who will command multiple years and multiple millions -- but talks about names such as: Phil Coke, Joe Beimel, or Craig Breslow, as well as the possibility of Dana Eveland Version 2.0.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 The pen has actually held up pretty well over the last few years with guys like Rice and Byrdak being the primary lefties out of the pen, and Edgin was really good the second half last year. I'd be thinking more along the lines of a minor league deal than a major priority, but I guess we'll see.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 I think they're thinking of this less as we-need-a-left-handed-body and more as we-need-a-lefty-as-the-last-piece-in-a-playoff-contending-bullpen (only hedging a bit, cost-wise, so no MIller, say).
