But nice to see correspondence from a team (or team owner) that is, as the anagram of Alec Guinness has it (which I learned from The Simpsons), genuine class.I dunno, I could easily see that same letter coming from the Wilpons. Sub in some Canyon of Heroes/New York supremacy stuff. And instead of "See you at Fanfest in February," substitute "See you at the cheap, non-free seasonal events we stick at CitiField in lieu of a proper Fanfest."

I saw on facebook someone from here went. I was wondering how it was. I thought about going but didn't work out.Fanfest really isn't my thing but I know it is for a larger part of the general fanbase (and particularly the non-reading blogs all day part) that they definitely should do..something. All I can say is, hey, the QBC ain't necessarily exactly that, but it's still a fun time so come on out.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 The QBC was fun last year, and I've already bought my tickets for next year's event. But it's shameful that the team itself doesn't put on a FanFest. The FanFest is a great way to pump up fans during the offseason, and I believe that the teams that do this garner a lot of goodwill.

The angry tweeters will just be all "Good, you should've been doing this all along anyway."Honestly the Mets should just give the QBC their blessing, hire a handful of players to come and sign and speak, and let us/them run it. Maybe lend usage of the Caesar's Club too. January 10th at McFaddens btw. Mookie and Wally.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 McF's is a bad place for the number of people that showed up last year. That second room is too small, maybe some of the stuff that was in the bigger roomwould better in the small room. The bigger area adjacent to the bar should be where the speakers and stuff are? Also, I'll know to eat before hand this time; and bring alemon for my club soda if I plan on not having beer haha.

And G-d knows that the food cart offerings last year were beyond piss pour. If you're going to have an event that runs from noon until six or seven, you need to feed the people who show up!

All those complaints, and (this is just stupid) the audio is only piped around the edges of the room so if you're in the bar area (or the back room) you won't hear it. Makes it hard to announce things. And they don't clean the place at all
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 You mean mopping the floor with a mop that's dirtierthan the floor doesn't really clean the floor?I'm bad at splitting threads, maybe Edge can make a QBC2015 thread when he gets a min.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 I'm on my way out. Keep a-postin' in this thread and I'll split later.

I saw on facebook someone from here went. I was wondering how it was. I thought about going but didn't work out.We did. The giveaways-- trick-or-treat bag, candy, 10-cent spider-rings and the like-- and "free" activities (bounce maze, short-supplied crafts) were minimal, but okay. The food offerings-- stripped-down beer pavilion, some nice-looking but ill-timed boutique Italian ice and frozen custard, and one VERY basic concession stand-- were workable, if disappointing. The customer service was about what you'd expect, with the usual soupcons of intermittent politeness, and well-meaning-but-frustrating shrugs*. It felt like a half-organized, poorly-stocked parking-lot "Family Friendly" neighborhood-church-fair or farmer's market**, only in a premium location.*We brought a big, heavy bag of food donations for the Met food drive taking place concurrently with the Fest, with the idea-- heavily implied by the advertising-- that the two were connected events; I was told by two Mets staff that the food donations booth was inside the Fest. As such, YoungerPooper and I went in. When I finally tracked down a staff member inside who knew for sure where the food donations were being accepted-- it took three or four tries-- he informed us that: (A) the events were independent of each other; ( the cans and such were only being accepted in the store; © we could not access the store from inside the stadium today; and (D) because of reentry policies, we could not leave and return to the Festival in order to drop off food donations. So I wound up toting around a bag of cans for two hours, while trying to track my masked daughter in a crowd of other hip-height superheroes.**One corner of the centerfield pavilion was actually given over to a thinly-populated "Queens" farmer's market.

It's a wonderful concept, and it was/is coolto have so many Mets' fans converge on one spot on a cold day at Shea (Citi).Ashie62 wrote:McFaddens is a glorified dump.Glorified by whom? Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I'm a definite maybe. Didn't really like last year.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I'll be participating in a thing at 4. Lunchpail can't make it this year as he has a chess tourney and baseball practice.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 I'd only be able to stay for a few hours, so I think I'm going to skip this year. Looking forward to a full report.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 I'll be moderating a debate on "Meaningful Games in September"; leading a Q&A with Adam Rubin; weighing in on what if any Mets numbers should be retired; and hosting the Gil Hodges Award presentation to Ed Charles. So, yeah, I recommend a Saturday afternoon on 126th Street, for sure. Come on down!

Guest themetfairy Guests Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 It was worth the price of admission just to hear Ed Charles.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 Hopefully many pictures to follow!
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 Give me a little time - I just got home.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 I took most of the pictures/video with staff camera, forgot my own. I can confirm about 40 cases of Big Hurt beer in a back storage area but none behind the bar.
