Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Officially done as a Met, signing a minor league deal with the Yankees. Hit .205, with 8 homers, in 88 games. Had his best games twice when he was reportedly on the verge of release.Hit Kuroda, and hit Scott Kazmir, and I've got to appreciate that much. Wouldn't have minded if the Mets kept him around until the Oakland series just to see if he could tag Kazzy one more time.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Pinch-homer vs. Marlins on Huey Lewis Concert Day during that brief and shining moment when it was 1983 all up in here. That's the power of love!Otherwise, wow, he sucked.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 He not only sucked. He made me channel my late grandfather, who undoubtedly would have hated him. I yelled "Everybody Hates Chris" at him during a game in Philly in May - MK took issue with that. So Chris Young marked the moment that my son officially surpassed me in maturity. And he made IGTs a pain this year with the CYoung and EYoung distinction.Otherwise, he was the Met in my Festivus - I had a lot of problems with him.

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 SugarPants? Todd Pratt? Steve Henderson? I don't think so.So I'll ask you, naysaying grumps-- who ELSE in Met history hit a home run during a burgeoning shark-superstorm?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 27, 2014 Author Posted August 27, 2014 New levels of futility, nothing. Guys fail like him every year. Just didn't have a whole lot better at the position.Have we forgotten Jason Bay so soon?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Yeah, I'm not getting the hate here either. The BA was pitiful but there were enough walks to make for a merely below average OBA while nearly 40% (20 of 52) of his hits went for extra bases. He played hard, was a decent OFer, and it's not like any of the alternatives have burned the house down or even been able to claim the job full time. The signing didn't work out and I had no problem with his release, but I'm not getting the stain on our house vibe. We've seen worse, oh yes, we've seen worse.
